Marcos Acuña will miss the two World Cup qualifying matches in September with Argentina.

Acuña had muscular discomfort and underwent tests to his right hamstring on Wednesday and the results are out. Sevilla have confirmed that he is injured and will be out for several weeks due to a right thigh injury.

Lionel Scaloni’s team play two World Cup qualifying matches in September and he would miss both of the matches. The first is against Ecuador on September 7 in Buenos Aires and the second on September 12 in Bolivia.

  1. Acuna will be 32 next month and the world cup is still 3 years ago. We don’t want to end up like 2018, squad full of old players. I don’t think he can be more than a back up LB in the next world cup. Hopefully, Scaloni has some good options lined up for his position!

Additionally, His backup Tagliafico is of almost same age!

    • Both have been solid for the national team. I’m hoping another good tournament in Copa America 2024. Then, the spot should be our biggest question mark.
