Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d’Or for a record eighth time.

Messi continues to make and break his own records. The Best player in the world lifted the award on Monday in Paris for last year’s incredible season, most notably at the World Cup.

At 36 years of age, Messi lifted the Ballon d’Or becoming the oldest player to do so. He also becomes the first player to win a Ballon d’Or in three different decades.

Having won it in 2009, he went on to win it three years in a row from 2011 to 2013 before winning it in 2016, 2019 and the last time in 2021 after winning the Copa America. While he won Ligue 1 with PSG, his greatest achievement came at the World Cup.

Messi scored seven goals at the 2022 World Cup while being named the best player in Qatar and winning the World Cup with the Argentina national team.

Congratulations to the Best player in the world!
