The Argentina U17 won 3-1 vs. Japan at the World Cup with Claudio Echeverri scoring a free kick.

Argentina scored two goals early in the match with Claudio Echeverri getting his first goal of the World Cup. Argentina were awarded a free kick and it was Echeverri who took it and scored.

Santi López had a great dribble on the right side and played the pass to Valentino Acuña who scored to make it 2-0 for Argentina. Diego Placente’s team nearly made it 3-0 before the end of the first half but were unable to score.

The first half ended 2-0 and Japan scored early in the second half. At 2-1, Japan scored late in the match to make it 2-2 but it was ruled out due to a foul on the goalkeeper.

Agustin Ruberto scored Argentina’s only goal in the first match against Senegal, scored his second goal of the U17 World Cup. Ruberto’s effort on goal took a slight deflection as he found the back of the net to make it 3-1 for Argentina.

Argentina are on three points and second in the group, with Senegal in first on six points, Japan on three points and Poland last place in the group with zero points. Argentina play Poland on Friday.

  1. Echeverri might have scored a great free-kick. But his attitude on the field does not demonstrate great teammanship. He avoided pressing football for most part of the game even when Japan was heavily bulldozing into our territories in the second half. On top of that there were several occasions where he expressed dismay at his teammates for not passing on to him. Such behaviour is not very favourable for building team bonds. Hope he learns. Anyway, Argentina U17 is not at all having a great outing this world cup.

  2. From current squad only Emi, Taglia, Palacios and Ocampos were U17 NT members, the others not, never, so chill. This age category simply not show our future potential.
