Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke at a press conference prior to the match vs. Canada in the Copa America.
Lionel Scaloni and Leandro Paredes were both at the press conference on Thursday prior to the Copa America opener vs. Canada. Here is what Scaloni had to say about the match:
“I’m going to announce the team to the players this afternoon. They don’t know it yet.
“Canada is a very good team, they have important players and a new coach who has brought in new ideas. They are a complicated opponent but we are prepared to play our game.
“We are in good shape, with clear ideas and knowing how difficult this tournament is. We are prepared for what is to come.”
Scaloni also spoke about what the team has achieved:
“What we achieved was nice, but it’s in the past. We have to think about the present. I put the player I see best at the moment. I’ve always done that. The one I have sitting next to me (Paredes) went out in the World Cup and then came back in. It will always be like that.
“Today the word ‘process’ in football is very difficult to carry out and we have achieved it. It is something to be very satisfied with.”
How good is this Canada team seriously? They held France 0-0 in their last friendly.
I think the toughest opponent in our group is Peru.
Chile has been our Achilles Heel. So I would think Chile is the toughest. However, if we consider Peru and Canada as weak, we are heading for a shock.
