Thiago Almada has a chance to start for Argentina against Venezuela.
Almada could be starting for Argentina on Thursday. According to Gastón Edul, the 23 year old was playing in a four man midfield on Wednesday in training with Argentina and he has chances to start Thursday’s World Cup qualifier.
Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni tried a midfield of Almada, Gio Lo Celso, Enzo Fernández and Rodrigo De Paul. Almada’s last match with the Argentina national team was in June of 2023 in a 2-0 win vs. Indonesia.
Starting two old guard in defense is unacceptable and demoralizing; especially Pezella. Thank God Argentina are facing Venezuela not likes of Uruguay, Colombia or Brazil.
Sometimes I don’t understand Scaloni decisions. Whereas there are younger experienced cbs like Senesi, Facundo Medina,
why is Scaloni stubborn to test younger centre backs. It doesn’t make any sense.
If Soule is fit why didn’t Scaloni selected him?
And Balerdi need why not Balerdi?

We don’t have any wingers right now, Messi is more of an attacking midfielder these days. Thiago Almada usually plays well as a makeshift LWF though, he has played for Botafogo and Velez in that position many times, cutting in and drifting inside from the left. We will end up with a lot of midfielders in this game and rely on our fullbacks to provide width.

I’m so happy for thaigo almada since it’s confirmed he will be starting tonight’s match however it’s unacceptable that OT and pezzella will be our starting centre back for tonight’s match , Scaloni should be bold enough to start leo balerdi since licha martinez is out of form , I love our starting midfielder and forward line disappointed by our starting centre back, come on Argentina let’s win tonight
