Lautaro Martínez scored for Argentina in their 1-0 win vs. Peru in the World Cup qualifiers.

Martínez had the only goal of the game in a match where Argentina created chances but were unable to score. Julián Álvarez would hit the post in the first half and nearly score for Argentina.

Minutes after his effort hit the post, Álvarez would cross the ball into the penalty area but Alexis Mac Allister’s header would go just wide.

Lionel Scaloni would not make any changes to start the second half but they would get their goal. Lionel Messi would receive the ball out and would cross it into the penalty area, finding Lautaro Martínez who would score a volley to give Argentina the 1-0 lead.

Nehuén Pérez, Gio Lo Celso and Giuliano Simeone were substituted in for Gonzalo Montiel, Rodrigo De Paul and Lautaro Martínez. Scaloni would make two more substitutions, bringing on Facundo Medina and Leandro Paredes for Leonardo Balerdi and Alexis Mac Allister.

They would hold on to the 1-0 win and remain top of the South American World Cup qualifiers.
