On this day two years ago, Argentina won 2-0 against Poland at the World Cup.

Alexis Mac Allister and Julián Álvarez were the two goal scorers for Argentina in their third match in Qatar. After a shocking 1-0 loss against Saudi Arabia and a World Cup changing 2-0 win against Mexico, Lionel Scaloni’s team went into the third match with destiny in their hands.

Lionel Scaloni started the following eleven against Poland:

Emiliano Martínez; Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Acuña; De Paul, Enzo Fernández, Alexis Mac Allister; Lionel Messi, Julián Álvarez and Di María

Argentina were awarded a penalty kick and Messi had his saved by Wojciech Szczęsny. Mac Allister would score very early in the second half and Julián Álvarez would score his first World Cup goal to give Argentina the 2-0 lead and win.

  1. Every son of Diego simeone is strong & fighter & hardworking. Giuliano simeone is one of them. I wish his one of the son would’ve a defender then
argentina would have get a world class defender.

    • Depending on a 20 year old ‘could be a good player infuture’ cost Ten Hag his job and United is sitting in the bottom half of the table. Garnacho at best is a sub when we are winning a game. Unless he drops his selfish play and improves his decision making & finishing, he shouldn’t be relied upon. Giuliano Simeone has better IQ and end product than Garnacho right now and is more Scaloni type of player with far better work ethic & is very unselfish.
