Goalkeepers:
Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa)

Julián Álvarez (Atletico Madrid)
Lautaro Martínez (Inter)
Santiago Castro (Bologna)
Ángel Correa (Atletico Madrid)
Need to play smart, we have a lot of players with yellows that could miss the Brazil match if not careful. Most of them are our midfield.
Watched the Real vs Atletico match. Other than the sublime score by Alvarez, our players didn’t impress much. Brahim walked away with all the glory. De Paul vs Vinicius battle was an interesting one where De Paul won the most of them. But with others De Paul was slower to react. Giuliano was overwhelmed by the occasion, it seems. Some of the passes from Molina were very good. But other than that his defence was not up to the mark.
Inclusion of Pezzella and Montiel shows that Scaloni does not have good options in these positions, which is not ideal at all.
We back baby!
Two of the toughest opponents in the world and toughest in Conmbeol at the least.
I expect scaloni to keep his same membrane of the older squad in these matches and then experiment in the next round of qualifiers. Nico Paz is the future. Been saying it for some time. Mark my words gentleman.
1) I am disappointed with perrone selection, he is a good player but equi Fernandez, Alan verela & Santiago hazze miles ahead of him.
2) In defense Nahun parez or kevin lomanaco of Independiente could be selected in place of pazzela.
3) In left back position Bernabie could be selected, he was the best left back of seria a last season.
4) In right back position pablo maffeo could be selected in place of Gonzalo Montiel
Disagree completely Chintu, in my opinion Perrone is far superior to either Hazze or Equi and is at least on equal footing with Varela.
Hazze and Equi play in Greece and the mideast, which doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re bad but to play for a prestigious team like Argentina you need to prove yourself on a regular basis against good teams in a top league and that’s exactly what Perrone is doing with Como, a weak-ER (not weak) team in Serie A playing often against stronger teams. Perrone did the same thing when he was at Las Palmas in Spain.
The reason why he’s not playing for Mancity is because at the time when he was sent to Como Rodri was healthy and Bronzovic was his backup and Como paid for his loan and weren’t willing to let him go.
As for 2) 3) and 4) I agree completely with what you said.
Mamoun totally agree with you on Perrone
Why pick injured Locelso who will probably recover 17th march; and it’s not guaranteed he will have fully recovered. Also I don’t understand Scaloni decision to always ignore Alan Varela of all the players available. It doesn’t make sense. Meanwhile how good is Valentín Gómez from Velez sarfield. With absence of Licha and uncertainty of Cuti Romero return that defense doesn’t look convincing.
This is a preliminary list so some players will be cut. Valentin Gomez of Velez and Kevin Lomonaco from Independiente looks like the most interesting CB options from the local league, but Nehuen Perez from Porto is an even better option and he was inexplicably not called. Certainly he is better than Pezzella at this point.
Great balanced roster. Youth who may not play but training with the experience from players like otamendi, montiel and pezella is priceless.
Gentleman, the older players are need to transition the younger players into the national level.
Two tough games this round…. Let’s see if the World Champions once again answer the bell!!! Vamos Carajo
Montiel, Pezzella, Otamendi, Parades must go with dignity. Otamendi because of Cuti’s injury. Racing club have been going through some good times in the past 6 months and 2 standouts Nardoni and Maxi Salas, left forward should have been called. Perrone is very limited in his abilities and is 10 % the quality of Ezequiel Fernandez, it doesn’t which league he plays in. Benja, Castro and Paz atleast 2 or 3 more consistent years before they are NT material. Almada, Dybala and Foyth fantastic additions.
We’ve seen enough to declare Garnacho is Not an elite, simply not NT material. Will struggle to make Chile team. The fact that Correa and Nico González are called suggests how poor our talent pool is.
Ortega over Bernabei? That’s odd. What else does Bernabei needs to do to get a call. Also, I can think of several players that I would pick ahead of Perrone: Varela, Barrenechea, Hezze.
Glad to see Bologna duo to get a call on the list preliminary list, a recognition of their current form.
Echeverri is a bit of a surprise, the kid is super talented, but given our positional needs, e.g. LB, I’d rather see Barco, Soler and Bernabei on the list than Echeverri.
Anyhow, some names will be cut, maybe Lo Celso (injury) and Angel Correa, Perrone and Pezzella. We’ll see.
Notice that Guido and Acuna have not been called…so there’s at least some generational shift.
for me , Montiel should only be playing tournaments. Penalty kick specialist. Maffeo could have been given a chance. Also Barco was getting minutes. He should have been picked over Ortega. On Pezzella , can only hope he retires one day like Sir Armani. Till then all young CBs need to wait
Pezzella and montiel shouldn’t be in the list. glad to see likes Perrone, Paz, santiago castro, B. Dominguez, G. Simeone, i hope cuti Romero is fit to play and I think Pezzella will go after those Derby matches because of his experience, I’m sure will see much more different squad in jun
I hope to see Simeone over Garnacho to get some minutes in senior team. He is very special. Happy to see A Correa as well.
Yeah Angel Correa is very underrated, he’s a fantastic supersub who would be very useful playing on the right side. If he maintains his current form until next year I would like to see him go to the WC.
Nice list overall, really glad to see Perrone and Castro get a mention (even though they’ll both get cut from the final list).
The one name that is missing is Alexandro Bernabei because this list is light on legit leftbacks, otherwise it’s solid.
It is about time Foyth steps up and take charge! He has the potential to be a solid CB who can also play as a RB equally well! Molina has been very inconsistent this season, had a short run of form but is forced back on the bench by a makeshift RB in Lorente. Montiel is simply average! My only concern with Foyth playing as a RB is I haven’t really seen his offensive side!
So many young player in MF and FW. But not a single in Defence. Again Pezzella and montiel is selected. Scaloni is very insecure person I’m sure.
