Cristian Romero was substituted out injured and left the pitch in tears for Tottenham.
Romero started Tottenham’s match against Sunderland and left the pitch in tears. Minutes after a collision with goalkeeper Antonín Kinský after being pushed from behind by Sunderland forward Brian Brobbey, Romero asked to be substituted out of the match.
Tottenham have not yet provided an update on the 27 year old.

For Cristian Romero:
If it’s just a knock or minor MCL strain (Grade 1)
→ He’ll be back in a few weeks.
→ Zero risk for the World Cup.
If it’s a moderate injury (Grade 2)
→ 1–2 months recovery.
→ Still very likely to be fully fit by June.
Only if it’s a serious tear (Grade 3)
→ 2–3 months+
→ Then it could slightly affect his preparation, but even then, June is still some distance away.
The important thing here is timing. We’re in April. The World Cup is still 2+ months away. In football terms, that’s actually a comfortable window for most knee injuries unless it’s severe.
It ultimatel depends on the grade and there is full hope that he will be fit for WC.
It is believed that Cuti Romero is the most crucial player for Argentina, and without him, Argentina’s chances of winning the World Cup are considered to be almost negligible.
We shouldn’t think like that. If he cannot, then Otamendi, Senesi, Quarta should stand up tall ensuring that he is not missed. I know it is extremely difficult but that is the belief that Scaloni needs to instill in them. Senesi was quite good against Arsenal. He is already sitting on Barcelona, Chelsea and Tottenham offers.
Best case scenario for Argentina: He was in tears because of the fight against relegation with Tottenham. A lot of players were quite emotional after the game since it was a must-win for staying in the Premier League.
