Franco Mastantuono (River Plate), Enzo Barrenechea (Valencia), Kevin Lomónaco (Independiente), and Mariano Troilo (Belgrano) have been called up by Lionel Scaloni for Argentina’s June double-header against Chile and Colombia.
Mastantuono and Lomónaco, both enjoying strong form in the local league and seen as promising prospects, had already been on the radar of the national team coach in recent weeks.
The biggest surprise was the inclusion of Troilo, a 21-year-old center-back from Belgrano, who has earned his first senior call-up despite never having been part of Argentina’s youth teams.
Meanwhile, Barrenechea is expected to take the spot vacated by Nicolás Domínguez, who is out with a meniscus injury.
What about Alen Varela from FC Porto?
Why not Soule? If Castellanos and Garnacho are missing.
This Troilo guy seems very good at times and very bad and error-prone at other times. To be honest, all the moments I saw are from him are youtube highlights, so I have a mixed opinion about him and it’s the first time I hear his name. Apparently, he won’t get his debut in this double qualifier games.
