Exequiel Palacios suffers early injury in Bayer Leverkusen match vs. Eintracht Frankfurt

Exequiel Palacios raises concern for Argentina after having suffered a muscular problem just three minutes into Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who played in Argentina’s recent 3-0 win over Venezuela and remained on the bench against Ecuador, started for Leverkusen but quickly showed discomfort. He first went down after a challenge with Can Uzun and then again while receiving pressure from Oscar Höjlund.

Palacios briefly tried to continue but lasted only until the 13th minute, when coach Kasper Hjulmand replaced him with Aleix García.

Claudio “Diablito” Echeverri and Equi Fernández are on the bench for Leverkusen, while Alejo Sarco is absent as he trains with Argentina’s U20 squad ahead of the World Cup in Chile later this month.

  1. Palacios injured, Equi red card, Echeverri not used. Not a good day for Argentina fans.
Equi had a great chance to show his quality as Palacios and Andrich out. But he got unnecessary cards..

    • I beg to differ, Equi Fernández showed what what he can provide in the midfield. Forget about the Redcard because first yellow was unfair. Once equi Fernández was brought on, the difference was visible, Leverkusen with 10 men easily contained their opponents. That second yellow was unnecessary, that’s a mistake he will learn from.

      • I am not just talking about this match. In the upcoming matches, he would have started in the absence of Andrich and probably Palacios. Now hes also out. It was a great chance to show his quality and cement his place in starting x1. Now he will have to fight. Opportunity missed.
