Nicolo Tresoldi on possibly playing for Argentina: “Yes, with Argentina and Italy”

Nicolo Tresoldi of Club Brugge can play for the Argentina national team, the German national team or the Italian national team.

Tresoldi scored for Club Brugge in their 3-3 draw against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and prior to the match, the 21 year old forward spoke about himself and which national team he can represent. Tresoldi, born in Italy but represented Germany through his father at youth level, can also represent the Argentina national team through his mother. Speaking in an interview with Marca, here is what he had to say when asked if he can play for Argentina:

“Yes, with Argentina and Italy. Any one of the three.”

  1. Well said Richard, and may I also add, Prestianni’s career is all but done in Europe outside of Benfica, and the question will be, how long does Benfica keep him around at the expense of tarnishing the club’s reputation going forward? He might find himself at some fringe club in Europe but other than that, it’s either Saudi or Argentina in the long run. Look what the English tabloids and media did to former Man United player Greenwood, because of his past actions this has impacted his career outside of Getafe/Marseille, no major clubs are willing to sign him because of the fear of media and fans backlash. How does Prestianni recover from this scandal? He is going to always be painted as that kid who said some disgusting words about Vini Junior in a UCL game. Vini Junior was wrong for directly going to the fans and taunting them with his stupid dance, but at the same time, Prestianni could have been the better person on the day by just walking over to Vini and explain to him what he is doing is disrespectful to the home fans, simple as that, no need for disgusting and derogatory language. Hopefully he does apologize for his behavior and in response UEFA and Europe as a whole give him a second chance, if not, all his potential will be mute at this point.

Otamendi showing off his international trophies tattooed on his body is childish at best, like what is it with these guys, like being an ambassador for the game and carrying yourself as the current World Champions. Why do the Argentinean players have to be like this, is it insecurity? Like Prestianni, Dibu also hurt his club’s progress with his post 2022 WC final antics, he could have easily avoided being a sore winner. This is why no other club tried to sign him despite being one of the ”best” goalkeepers in the World.

Enzo Maresca actually saved Enzo Fernandez’s career after the antics he pulled off on the Argentina national team bus. The funny thing is, all the French players at Chelsea could have complained to the owners of the club and management about Enzo Fernandez behavior but they didn’t, yes they took the high road, they moved on instead of forcing the management to take immediate drastic action with regards to Enzo post Copa final behavior. The English FA could have taken serious actions against Enzo if his French teammates decided to push the issue forward, but instead they forgive and embrace him as a brother. Maybe the Argentinean professional players need to show more humility, stop acting as if you’re the greatest thing since sliced bread and that you’re better than other players even outside of football.

Dybala did the same thing in a Serie A game, showing off his WC winning trophy that was displayed on his shin guards. I believe this happened during a game between Roma and Lazio where there was a back and forth between Dybala and the French international and former Arsenal player Guendouzi.

Acuna also did this same behavior at the Club World Cup during a game between River Plate and Inter Milan. He was going back and forth with the Dutch international Denzel Dumfries where he was seen showing his shin guards with the 2022 WC title. This type of behavior is not necessary. You rarely see former winners in recent times from France, Germany, Spain and Italy behaving with this lack of humility towards fellow professional players on a football pitch.

Why do this modern version of the Argentina national team make it their sole purpose to become the most unlikeable team in modern football? I mean, if it wasn’t for the current Messi Pr, this team would be getting a lot more blowback. Always think about life after Messi. Messi is a real ambassador and example to follow, his teammates should have taken notes. You’d never see Messi showing off his eight Ballon D Ors because he had a dispute with some random player.

I’m not going to elaborate on the current state of the team at this moment. I already said Argentina this year is a quarterfinal team. The current players bar Messi are going to spend the entire time at the World Cup showing off their 2022 winners medal tattooed on their bodies as soon as they’re in some conflict on the pitch ( this is just too much lol, like come on guys). They’re working really hard to be the most unlikeable team at the next World Cup. I truly want to see Messi win again, and this is the only reason I will be watching the World Cup. Irrespective of what happened, Messi will depart the 2026 WC as he entered it, the best player in the modern game, so it won’t have an impact on him if he doesn’t win it again. I think most pundits, neutral fans, and media outlets will only show respect towards Messi and not the overall team at the 2026 World Cup. If Scaloni makes some serious changes and adjustments then I can see the team progressing further. But as things stand, this team is unlikely to win again..

  2. The past few weeks or even months I have been surprised by the news articles (name scored in match xyz) that were posted. It seems that we are turning a blind eye to the unsportsmanlike behaviour of some of our players. Prestianni made a racist remark, Otamendi acted like a child showing his tattoos while 1-0 down, and Romero made a horrible tackle that got him suspended for 4 games. Don’t get me wrong, I want Argentina to win the Finalissima and WC again, but our players should behave themselves on the pitch. We already had too many incidents after winning the WC that caused many football fans to dislike Argentina (mocking Mbappe, racist songs on the plane etc.). We should be sportsmanlike winners.

The big story missing on this website was the interview from Scaloni in which he said he was worried because next to Dibu only 2 players were playing at WC level, Enzo Fernandez and Lisandro Martinez. Why was that interview neglected by mundoalbiceleste? Sure, we want to be positive but we also have to be realistic. Many players that we expect in the starting 11 are playing below the level they can achieve with our wingbacks being the biggest problem. Scaloni recently went to Atletico Madrid as they have the most national team players of whom most are underperforming. In 2018 we played Spain 3 months before the WC. Some of you might remember the result. This year, we play Spain again 3 months before the WC. Hopefully, the result will be better this time around.
