Argentina will play Zambia in their second game in March.
The Argentina national team will play on March 31 against Zambia. Lionel Scaloni’s team will play Mauritania on March 27 at La Bombonera and on March 31, they will play Zambia at La Bombonera.
Lionel Scaloni called up both Franco Mastantuono and Joaquín Panichelli to the Argentina national team for the two matches. Here is the updated players for the two matches:

The good news is that AFA managed to get 2 opponents on very short notice.
Messi can easily add a few ore goals to his tally.
And a bunch of new players can be tested. Hopefully they do get sufficient playing time.
The lack of playing friendlies against strong European teams is to blame on the Nations league.
All international dates are booked leaving hardly any room for friendlies in the past years.
Last year Spain played the Netherlands home and away. The level of play in those 2 games was very high.
Since we qualified for the WC 2026 (and already qualified for WC 2030 as hosts (1 game)) we haven’t been tested nor played intense matches as the one mentioned above in the Nations league. That competition could give European teams the edge.
That being said, the WC stands on its own. Previous results do not count.
Finally we get some much needed young blood in the team. Great to see Senesi, Panichelli, Barco and others.
Not so happy to see Mastantuono. The guy is a complete flop at Madrid.
Parma’s Pellegrino would be a much better option. Sure, he is a defender but scores more often 🙂
Also Bologna’s Castro would be a better pick. Although we have plenty of strikers.
Curious to see how the team will line-up after the half time break and who of the new guys can impress in the NT shirt.
Pellegrino is not a defender, he is a striker, no 9. His dad was a defender though 🙂
Guys calm down. Yes the opponents are not ideal or mighty but it is better than nothing. Situation in middle east didn’t help us at all and cancelled those two games we were meant to play and now AFA managed those two friendly matches better than nothing. Almost every single European team playing with someone and so is other nations. It’s not only us even Spain has same issue
Scaloni keep avoid too many over 30 players and should go with new players and formation.

Our next two match will be our test for next world cup preparation.. so same eleven is not soluition..scaloni should go with new player…
