  1. Dibu
    Molina Romero Licha Medina
    Simione Paredes Enzo McAllister
    Messi Alvarez

    Sub: Montiel
    Tagliaf
Nico Gonz / Barco / Palacios
    Nico Paz
    Lautaro

I don think we need to bother much about the depth of the squad.. Will miss senesi and Buendia…

  2. Top leagues in the world
Premier League – Nr 1 Arsenal and Nr 2 Man City have no Argentine players
La Liga – Nr 1 Barcelona and Nr 2 Real Madrid have no Argentine players
Bundesliga – Nr 1 Bayern Munich, no Argentines
Ligue 1 – Nr 1 PSG, no Argentines
Serie A – Nr 1 Inter Milan has an Argentine player as captain of the team

Quite remarkable, although it could mean nothing 🙂

  3. Squad Notes

No coach will ever be able to put together a world cup squad that is liked by everyone. This one is no exception, and there are some things about this squad I like, and some I absolutely hate. Here are my thoughts.

Goalkeepers: Dibu will be the starter and nobody who is decent has been left behind. That River kid will play the next one.

    RB:

Molina: Although found form towards the end of the season, but not the best part of this defense to say it mildly. Hopefully he scores some bangers and provides width.

Montiel: A disaster. If we need him to play then we might as well forfeit that match. Back in the day his biggest strength was being able to kick the living shit out of some Brazilians, but lately he’s been slacking on that trait as well. Now he can barely stay fit, absolutely not in form, Rhythm and lack football. Extremely surprised that he was picked, and I’d say there’s 50% chance he will be replaced before the first game.

    Centerbacks:

Romero, Lisandro, Otamendi are all still great and ready to take on any attack in their own ways. We must pray that these guys don’t get injured, or red carded because they can’t miss any game.

Ballerdi: Possibly the most un-Argentine centerback in Europe. If standard Argentine centerback mentality is “Thou shall not pass” then Ballerdi mojo is “I am Mia Khalifa, go thru”. He is probably the most errorprone and also injury prone defender in France and we must pray that he never plays.

Medina: I can guarantee that you wouldn’t know what he looks like when this world cup is over for Argentina. I don’t know what he look like and I will probably confuse him with that Lopez guy.

Senesi: Well, I am not as mad as rest of twitter on Senesi’s no call. It’s tough, but two left sided centerbacks are Otamendi and Lisandro, and Senesi can’t play on the right. Plus he is terrible in the air. If Scaloni was taking 9 defenders, then I’m sure he would have taken him.

    Left Back:

Tagliafico is a very consistent player. He will not do anything great, but he will also not do anything silly. He always plays, and he will probably play all available minutes minus some rest here and there. His backup is Medina, and you also must pray that he never plays. (Get ready, there’s gonna be a lot of praying)

Midfield: The most important and abundant group of players we currently have. Paredes is having the second spring of his life, and possibly the best football player in South America right now (Along with Neymar and Di Maria!). Enzo Fernandez is in great form, and Macalister is in terrible form, but I have no worries about them. They will be fine. Palacios is another great midfielder who, you wouldn’t know is not a standard good Spanish midfielder if you were blind folded. If he is needed, he will play and play well.

Let’s talk about the kids. Barco is special. I don’t know how much he will play, but Scaloni and Aimar must find a way to play him. Enzo was exactly in his situation in 22, and I know everyone remembers what an impact he had. Nico Paz is another special kid who will probably play a lot of minutes. Kid got a mean left foot, and hopefully he scores some.

Now let’s talk about the bad in midfield.

Almada is in terrible form. Diego Simeone has tried his best to ruin every Argentine player he gets his hand on, but hopefully he hasn’t manage to ruin Almada.
Nico is a versatile yet incredibly average player. If anyone think he can play left back, please make sure to check your expectations. He can’t play left back and he also can’t play left winger. If there’s an open goal shot, he will miss that 4/5 times. Giuliano is a good player, but not the most talented. He will run until his leg fall off though. I don’t expect to see him a lot.

Now let’s get my most controversial takes out of the way

    – De Paul is in the list because he is Messi’s buddy
    – Lo Celso is there because Scaloni couldn’t take him in 22. He is paying his debt.

De Paul was always gonna go, so I am not gonna make too much of a fuss about him, but one of Buendia or Soule should have been picked ahead of Lo Celso. I am also kinda sad that Perone wasn’t picked, but this was the right call.

    Forwards:

Julian is our best forward, and I hope he gets to play instead of being a defender all the time. Lautaro is still Lautaro, and I hope and you guys should pray that he doesn’t get a lot of minutes. Flaco Lopez will probably play 0 minutes, so you don’t have to know about him at all.

I think y’all know about Messi, so let’s not increase the size of this essay.

    • There is no reason to overreact the average is about 28.5 and if you remove the goal keepers it comes down to about 28. The only thing I would have had is either Perone or Bundia in place of Lo cleso. But I can understand why he is picked. Hope is is healthy and he has a good wc
