Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has named his starting eleven for the match against Switzerland and Lionel Messi starts.

Lionel Scaloni has not made any changes to the team which won 3-2 against Egypt. Here is the starting line-up:

Emiliano Martínez; Molina, Romero, Lisandro Martínez, Tagliafico; De Paul, Paredes, Enzo, Mac Allister; Messi and Julián Álvarez

  1. What a miss by Almada! I was genuinely surprised when Scaloni brought him on. To be fair, though, he was far from the worst performer on the pitch. By then, that unwanted crown had unfortunately gone to Enzo, who looked completely out of rhythm.

    What continues to puzzle me is our struggle against physically strong, well-organized defences. Switzerland didn’t need spectacular tackles—simple shoulder-to-shoulder challenges were enough to dispossess Messi, Lisandro Martínez, and almost everyone else. The only one who consistently stood his ground was Cuti.

    Our right side again looked like the weakest link. Time and again Switzerland found space there, and eventually the equalizer came from that channel. The scorer was allowed far too much room to attack the box. At this level, giving quality opponents that much freedom is almost an invitation to score.

    The worrying part isn’t just that we were at level in the 90 minutes—it’s that the same patterns keep repeating. Unless Scaloni finds solutions to our problems against compact, physical teams, next knockout game will become an uphill battle.

    • He didn’t pass to Messi open goal, thanks to Allah, Alvarez is back with banger. His couple of shots went over the bar yet he didn’t stop trying and sadly no creativity for Messi bursts.     • This is exactly the problem. There is no confidence. Mac Allister, Alvarez, Enzo, even Almada – all capable of explosive attacking football, somehow not trying. Like the whole team has been instructed to curb their instincts and pass to Messi at every opportunity.
