Leandro Paredes: “It was an honor to be part of the greatest Argentina national team in history”

Leandro Paredes has spoken after Argentina’s loss in the World Cup final.

Paredes did not start for the Argentina national team in their World Cup final loss. Paredes was substituted into the match by Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni. The Argentine posted the following on his Instagram:

“Thank you Argentina!

“I love you today and always.

“Today, I have to write with a heavy heart because we weren’t able to give you the joy our country deserves so much but with my chest filled with pride for giving everything we had and once again; leaving oue flag at the very top.

“Thank you to everyone who forms this national team, to this group of players that gave their lives to represent this shirt like they have until the last secind of every match.

“It was an honor to be part of the greatest Argentina national team in history.”

  1. Very clearly one of our top performers in WC26. Standout performance considering lot of us initially saw him only as a sub. He showed more grit & heart that the other midfielders. But what he did in that moment of madness killed all the good work & respect i had for Parades. I definitely dont want to see Parades in a NT jersey hereafter. Even if Gavi or Garcia said something about Messi, it is absolute nonsense to behave like a thug when you represent your country at such a global stage. Parades,Molina & Bellingham should receive punishment for their post match conduct.

  2. For me, the greatest tackle of this World Cup belongs to Paredes. Without that tackle, we might not have had such a great World Cup. Imagine being knocked out by Egypt. Losing to Spain is one thing, but losing to Egypt would have been a catastrophe.

He’s one of my favorite players of this generation, even though he has anger management issues and character issues. But in some matches, you need players like him. He has done his part for the national team, just like so many other players of this generation. But now, I think it’s time to move on.

Added to all this he played with injury for the nation.

  3. Greatest in history?? I don’t think so.they achieved a lot but there are far more talented Argentine side in their history.maybe they were unlucky plus they didn’t have certain Lionel messi.this scaloni side was gutsy but nowhere near the talent level they had in the past.

    • If you aren’t winning anything, then talent means nothing. This generation worked three times harder than any of Argentina’s more talented generations in the modern era. Argentina also had Messi in his absolute prime from 2006 to 2018 and still won nothing. So yeah messi carrying wouldn’t happen without the current group of players supporting him.

And your ungrateful ass has been whining throughout this entire World Cup. Maybe give it a rest now. This team won us three consecutive major trophies and reached another World Cup final. They have absolutely earned the right to be claim Argentina’s greatest teams ever.

      • exactly, they are great and true champions. however, if we had won in 2014, i would call the 2014 team the greatest team in our history, cause they had the best defense of all argentine teams ever, and sergio romero was fantastic

  4. Disgraceful player, and one of the most overrated performers of this World Cup.

He was completely ineffective against Spain and England. In fact, after he was substituted against England, Argentina looked three times better. Against Switzerland, he was outplayed and spent most of the game playing safe back passes. His only decent performance came against Egypt, who sat in a deep low block but again absolutely zero memorable moments from him other than that 1 goal saving tackle against Egypt..0 assists, final balls or anything productive. Defensively, he was a liability and looked shaky every time Argentina had to deal with counterattacks.

Then, in the final, he made a reckless decision kicking rodri that made Argentina look like thugs in front of the entire world. Then assaulted a boy ( GAVI) after the game.

Enzo only ended up being sent off because the referee WAS making up for not showing him a deserved red card earlier.

He ALSO had a mediocre 2022 World Cup. Without the emergence of Enzo and Mac Allister, Argentina wouldn’t have won the tournament. He struggled against Saudi Arabia and Mexico and created another brawl against Netherlands coming as a SUB

Its time for him to retire from the national team. Right now, he offers nothing besides unnecessary aggression and poor discipline.

      • @Roarharch09

Agree. I never saw the appeal of him. All he does is play sideways and backwards. No flair, close control, or creativity in his game. Bang average. He’s also a mean spirited player who’s always looking for trouble.

He’s the one player from Scaloni’s era I believe is painfully overrated and never deserved the level of praise he gets.

Lo Celso should have played more ahead of him because he can actually play quality final balls and combine with Messi much better.

    • We would never know who and for what sold our victory? Was it the Malvinas flag? Was it Infantino’s need for Europe’s vote to be reflected? Never. We would suffer in silence. Hope some player would come out with the truth after retirement.

    • u dont do this political nonsense on the football pitch, especially before a WC final.

when already u r getting so much hate, then add more fuel to the fire.

they cud have done the malvinas flag after wc was over

      • We could have won it sensi almost did it

Imagine a final with lecelso or Paz

Regardless of the team and tactics used both cb coming off fuked everything

Argentina need to also stop the childish embarrassing cringe with banners about places they never owned never lived never used are not part of there country

It’s very embarrassing continue claiming rocks there murdering dictators sent there kids to for no reason what’s so ever

The leaders are using the team
To spread lies not for islands but for

        Oil.
