Argentina international Walter KANNEMANN: “I always want to be with the Argentina National Team”

Walter KANNEMANN of Gremio has spoken about his desire to be with the Argentina National Team.

The defender was called-up by Lionel SCALONI to the Argentina team for their last two friendly matches against Guatemala and Colombia but only featured in the 3-0 win. Following his team’s 2-0 win in the Copa Libertadores against Atletico Tucuman, the Argentina international had this to say:

“I always want to be with the Argentina National Team and if one does well with his club, it makes it easier.”

Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI is expected to announce his Argentina squad on Friday for next month’s friendly matches.

The details regarding the 2019 Copa America in Brazil have been announced and it will be a total of 12 countries in six different cities.

Copa America number 46 will take place in Brazil between June 14 and July 7 and it will include 10 South American countries as well as two others from Asia. The teams participating are the following:

Estadio Morumbi in Sao Paulo will host the opening match while the final will be played at the mystical Maracana in Rio de Janeiro. The other cities which will be hosting are Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Salvador.

During the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Argentina played two matches in Rio de Janeiro (their opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the final against Germany), one in Belo Horizonte (a 1-0 win against Iran), one in Porto Alegre (where Lionel MESSI scored twice in a 3-2 win against Nigeria) and twice in Sao Paulo (an Angel DI MARIA winner gave them a 1-0 victor against Switzerland in the Round of 16 and the memorable win in the semi-finals against the Netherlands). Their other match was played in Brasilia against Belgium.

The last major international FIFA tournament to be held in the country was the 2014 World Cup where Argentina reached the final. They will be hoping to better that this time around and be crowned champions.

Mauro ICARDI scored for Inter in their 2-1 win against Tottenham in the Champions League.

It was his first ever match in Europe’s premier club competition and Mauro ICARDI delivered with a fantastic goal. Tottenham were leading 1-0 at the San Siro through a goal by Christian ERIKSEN. With five minutes from time, ICARDI received the ball outside of the area and with a volley beat the goalkeeper and drew Inter level.

Late in injury time, Matias VECINO gave Inter the lead to down Mauricio POCHETTINO’s men. Erik LAMELA started the match for Tottenham. Lautaro MARTINEZ did not play for Inter.

Lionel MESSI scored a hat trick for FC Barcelona in their 4-0 win against PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League.

The FC Barcelona captain kicked off the UEFA Champions League campaign in style scoring three sensational goals. MESSI’s first goal was a free kick which he curled over the wall and into the top corner of the net.

MESSI’s second goal was a first time touch. He received the ball from Croatia’s Ivan RAKITIC and from inside the area slotted it passed the goalkeeper for Barcelona’s third of the night.

The little magician went on to complete his hat trick in style, a ball once more into the area and MESSI beat the goalkeeper to make it 4-0 for the Catalan club.

A total of 25 Argentine players and two Argentine coaches will take part in this season’s 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League.

Every group this season in the Champions League will include at least one Argentine player, with Group B boasting six players and one coach and Group E having seven Argentine players in the group. No Argentine player has lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy since Lionel MESSI and Javier MASCHERANO did it with FC Barcelona back in the 2014-2015 season.
