Papu GOMEZ has extended his stay with Atalanta despite rumours linking him with a move away to Lazio and Napoli. His current contract will keep him at the club until 2022.

Atalanta President Antonio PERCASSI was very happy that GOMEZ has agreed to the new contract today.

“We continue together, we’re very happy. He’s the tip of our diamond. This renewal shows we really believe in him because of what he’s done for us and we’ll sure he’ll be a great example to the youngsters and the whole squad”.

Meanwhile, here’s what GOMEZ had to say:

“I am very happy to continue wearing this shirt, in a city like Bergamo. I am anxious to start, we are waiting for a great season”.

Last season, the attacking midfielder scored 16 goals in Serie A which helped the club to qualify for the Europa League next season.

Official: Guido PIZARRO joins SEVILLA

25

It is now official that Guido PIZARRO will join Sevilla.  The 27 year old midfielder will join fellow Argentine coach Eduardo BERIZZO in Spain.  He was playing for Tigres in Mexico and his new contract with Sevilla is set to run until the summer of 2021. He has won several trophies with Tigres in his 4 years with that team (joining them from Lanus).  He won his first cap a few months ago for Argentina’s national team playing vs. Bolivia.  Just as a reminder, Sevilla have also brought in fellow Argentina national team midfielder Ever BANEGA from Inter Milan this summer.  Let’s hope this helps our national team.

I think personally this is a good signing for PIZARRO.  The Spanish League is known for being one of the most competitive leagues in the world.  He will be be playing with Ever BANEGA who is supposedly one of SAMPAOLI’S favorite players.  I’m looking forward to seeing this new Sevilla team in action. What do you all think?
