12

A report has Pablo AIMAR joining Jorge SAMPAOLI’s Argentina staff.

While Jorge SAMPAOLI is still coaching Spanish club Sevilla, the media in Argentina is already speculating about who would be on his coaching staff should he manage the Argentina National Team. Fox Sports Argentina is reporting that Pablo AIMAR would join Jorge SAMPAOLI’s Argentina staff.

We reported earlier that Lionel SCALONI would be part of Jorge SAMPAOLI’s Argentina staff. Both Pablo AIMAR and Lionel SCALONI were part of Argentina’s 2006 World Cup team.

Lionel MESSI to appeal four match Argentina ban

Lionel MESSI will appeal his four match ban with Argentina.

As we reported last week, FIFA have invited Lionel MESSI to defend himself and appeal his four match suspension which he received. A report from TyC Sports has stated that the Argentina captain will fly to Zurich on May 4 where he would meet with FIFA officials to discuss his ban.

The rumor is that should MESSI appear in Zurich, his four match ban would be reduced to two matches. MESSI has already served one match, when Argentina lost 2-0 to Bolivia last month in a World Cup qualifying match.

MESSI received his ban after he appeared to curse at an official following Argentina’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying win against Chile. Should the ban be reduced to two matches, it would mean that he would miss Argentina’s next World Cup Qualifier on August 31 against Uruguay in Montevideo but would be back for the home World Cup Qualifier on September 5 against Venezuela.

Paulo DYBALA has commented about the World Cup and more.

The crowning jewel of Juventus has come out and spoken about the World Cup, Lionel MESSI and more. Speaking with TyC Sports regarding Argentina’s World Cup situation and Lionel MESSI, here’s what he had to say:

Paulo DYBALA on Argentina:

“I can’t imagine a World Cup without Argentina. I also want to win a World Cup, like all Argentinians. We try to help Leo (MESSI) to achieve that.”

Paulo DYBALA on Lionel MESSI comparison:

“I’m not angry that they compare me with MESSI. But like MARADONA, there’s only one. I also believe there’s a big difference between he and I. I want to do a lot of things with him and win. We’re both Argentinians and we have to enjoy playing together.”

Paulo DYBALA on Juventus:

“It’s the best moment of my career. I feel really good on the pitch, I’m at a club that has nothing to be envious of Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich about. The fans, my team-mates and the club have made me feel like this. That’s why I had no problem renewing.”

“This club competes for all the tournaments it takes part in, it’s the biggest club in Italy and from the moment I arrived they have helped me to become aware that we have to win everything we play for, against any opponent and on any pitch.”

Mauro ICARDI, Gonzalo HIGUAIN and more score in Serie A

Mauro ICARDI, Gonzalo HIGUAIN, Giovanni SIMEONE and Lucas BIGLIA all scored in Serie A this weekend.

Two of Serie A’s most prominent forwards scored on the weekend. That is to say Mauro ICARDI, Gonzalo HIGUAIN. One starts for the Argentina National Team while the other isn’t even on the team. Beginning with the one who is not on the team, Mauro ICARDI scored his first goal in the Milan derby as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

The other forward, Gonzalo HIGUAIN, scored twice for Juventus in their 2-0 win against Pescara. The two goals brought his scoring tally to 23 goals in the league. While he continues to fail Juventus in their Champions League matches, he continues to impress in the league.

However, it wasn’t all positive for Juventus as their star jewel Paulo DYBALA got an ankle injury and is a doubt for their Champions League clash against Barcelona.

It was Genoa hosting Lazio with a goal from Giovanni SIMEONE and Lucas BIGLIA. SIMEONE’s goal was number 11 of the season for him as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Juan Sebastian VERON: “Some journalists don’t help”

44

Juan Sebastian VERON spoke about Marcelo BIELSA, Lionel MESSI, Mauro ICARDI and the Argentina National Team.

Former Argentina international Juan Sebastian VERON commented about Marcelo BIELSA’s influence on his generation. In an interview with AS, he also spoke about the current generation of players, the situation involving Mauro ICARDI and more. Here’s what he had to say:

Is BIELSA’s influence important on your generation?
“Yes. But it’s also true that most of us like POCHETTINO, BERIZO, SIMEONE had a lot of experience with great teams, strong clubs with proper management and great coaches. Every one of us chose our path. El Cholo (SIMEONE) will move vases to explain tactics. Me, I’ve always been interested in marketing and managing clubs. Today, ZANETTI works with Inter and FIFA. Hopefully one day we can all reuinite and contribute our knowledge to Argentine football.”

Are you afraid that Argentina with MESSI don’t qualify for the World Cup?
“Yes, it’s a delicate situation. This generation has less and less time to get a championship. And Argentine football isn’t taking advantage of this generation the way we should. We’re not taking advantage of MESSI, AGUERO, DYBALA and HIGUAIN. We can’t rely on a genius, we have to create something to support the genius. And today, that support doesn’t exist.”

What do you think of ICARDI’s situation?
“I have my thoughts. I know what happened. But it’s a sporting question and you have to analyze it. If he’s doing well at Inter and he’s in good form, I don’t see why they don’t call him up.”

Do you talk with MESSI?
“Yes. It’s sporadic but we still talk. He’s doing really well with Barcelona. He has team mates who are finishers like NEYMAR and SUAREZ, who significantly support a MESSI who’s a playmaker. Leo’s grown a lot, I see him participating more. But after the frustration and suspension, I haven’t called him. Same thing when he retired but it makes me happy that Leo is still wearing the Argentina National Team shirt.”

Why is MESSI not understood in Argentina?
“For his exit. Here, people are in their armchairs criticizing him. And unfortunately, some journalists don’t help. I think that fortunately, there are who, who although are late, have understood the magnitude of having a player like him with the National Team. They’ll always have it against him for not having played in Argentina.”

Do you think one day people will miss MESSI’s National Team?
“This generation is just missing the last step. They’ve reached three finals… It’s cost them to get there. I played three World Cup’s. It’s very difficult.”
