Hey guys,

Today is another big day for our Sub-20 national team.  They’ve tied their first two matches : 1-1 against Perú, and 3-3 against Uruguay.  Today, they will play against Bolivia, who are currently leading the table in Group B.  The good news is that Argentina have recovered central defender  Cristian Romero (Belgrano de Córdoba) who was suspended last match.  He will play in place of Nicolás Salazar (San Lorenzo).

Probable formation:

Argentina: Ramiro Macagno; Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Juan Foyth y Milton Valenzuela; Santiago Ascacibar; Julián Chicco, Ezequiel Barco y Brian Mansilla; Lautaro Martínez y Marcelo Torres. Coach: Claudio Úbeda.

Stadium: Olímpico de Ibarra.

Time: 7:15 EST (TyC Sports).

Today is the beginning of a dream for these Argentina Under-20 players.  Argentina opens up their tournament today vs Peru.  Argentina is the current holding champion as they won the same tournament back in Uruguay 2015.  A lot of our greatest players and legends took part in this tournament including: MESSI, MARADONA, ZABALETA, LAVEZZI, JUAN PABLO SORIN, RIQUELME, and even RAMON DIAZ!

Our possible starting lineup for tonight is:

Argentina: Ramiro Macagno; Nahuel Molina, Juan Foyht, Cristian Romero, Milton Valenzuela; Santiago Ascacibar, Pedro Ojeda; Brian Mansilla, Ezequiel Barco, Lucas Rodríguez; Lautaro Martínez. COACH: Claudio Ubeda

Sergio ROMERO from Manchester United to Boca?

12

Hey all!

It is being reported in Argentina that Boca Juniors are making contact with Sergio ROMERO. It is reported that they have offered him the starting goalkeeper position at Boca until June so that he will have consistent playing time and thus be able to keep his position on the Argentina national team. Boca coach Guillermo Barros SCHELOTTO spoke directly with ROMERO to offer him the position directly. ROMERO has confirmed that he will actually consider the possibility and get back to him within hours.

As we all know, ROMERO is playing his second season at Manchester United but he never plays. He’s the backup goalkeeper there. Edgardo BAUZA has spoken to him and asked him to find a club where he will be the starting goalkeeper. Boca’s idea is to play ROMERO until JUNE and then try to get Willy CABALLERO who will have ended his contract at Manchester City.

What do you guys think? Good move? Would you like this? If he does this and plays well, should he be the starting goal keeper for Argentina?

Edgardo BAUZA on MASCHERANO, DI MARIA, HIGUAIN, more

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is doing well..Here are some more BAUZA quotes from an interview he had today with TYC Sports in Argentina.

“I’m going to watch the Superclasico, and then I’ll go to Europe. I’m going to see MAIDANA and CARUZZO. I’d like to start working with the local based players. It also depends on the teams that play the Libertadores.”

“The idea is to be able to work two or three days so that the player can understand the style we want to play. Because if they ever get selected, they’ll have an idea of what we are looking for and the integration would be a lot faster.”

He also was very decisive on confirming that he doesn’t want MASCHERANO to play as a central defender:

“I don’t like him as a central defender.”

He also spoke in regards to Sergio ROMERO:

“I want him to play at his club. He knows what I think. When I chat with him, we’ll see what he can resolve. His coach and him. He had told me that his coach promised him more opportunities, but he hasn’t had much. If he doesn’t play at his club, it will be difficult for him to play for the national team. If this continues like this, I don’t think he’ll play at the World Cup.”

BAUZA will fly to Europe on January 31st to visit the Argentine players that are almost always called up for the national team. BAUZA also revealed that he is also thinking about the possibility of selecting Matias CARUZZO, Ezequiel  GARAY and Jonatan MAIDANA.

He also spoke of Angel DI MARIA saying: “He doesn’t own the position.” In regards to HIGUAIN: “I’m not sure that HIGUAIN will start against Chile, it’s a very important match because it could allow to be more comfortable in the standings. From the moment they get called up I speak with them, in training, everywhere. Their current form also is an influence. I evaluate everything.”

What do you guys think of all this? I personally would like to see GARAY back for sure as I think we definitely need him.  I also like that he is being tough with DI MARIA, HIGUAIN, and ROMERO as well.   We can definitely live without these three players.  And I personally would like to see younger and fresher players.

What do you guys think of all this? Is BAUZA all talk?

As always,
