Argentina have defeated the United States and are in the final of the Copa America!
Ezequiel LAVEZZI scored for Argentina and Gonzalo HIGUAIN scored twice but it was Lionel MESSI’s free kick goal which stole the show. An incredible free kick driven into the top corner of the net was easily the goal of the night as Argentina have made the final!
The injury and suspension Nicolas GAITAN means that one of Ezequiel LAVEZZI or Erik LAMELA would start up front alongside Gonzalo HIGUAIN and Lionel MESSI.
Based off the training session, Tata MARTINO is going to start the same attack as the one Alejandro SABELLA started with in the final of the World Cup. That is to say Ezequiel LAVEZZI with Gonzalo HIGUAIN and Lionel MESSI.

As we mentioned, we are continuing to edit things here on the new Mundo Albiceleste. Some of it is the visual aspect of the website, other is more technical stuff for us Admins.
One new feature which has been implemented is about the comments section. We have now made it possible for you to edit a comment which you have posted. This is something which many people have been asking for and we’ve finally brought it.
The edit comment feature only works for 5 minutes after your commented has been submitted. That is to say once you submit your comment, you will have 5 minutes to edit it. At the bottom of your comment you will see a “Click to Edit” button with a timer on it. Click on that button, edit your comment and click Save!
We are also aware that many of you did not like the old “Kudos” system which we had and that is the reason why we have not brought it onto the new Mundo. If there is a high demand for it, it is possible that we bring it back but for now, it will not be possible.
We hope you enjoy the Edit feature and we will continue to work on aspects of Mundo!

For the longest time, Argentina’s “alternate” shirt (the dark blue shirt) has been seen as bad luck for the team. And with the blue shirt getting ready to make an appearance in Tuesday’s Copa America semi-final match, some superstitious people may get nervous.
Since the 1990 World Cup, Argentina has worn the alternate blue shirt 13 times in tournaments (World Cup and Copa America). Three of those 13 came at Copa America tournaments and the other 10 at World Cup’s. So what is the record? I’ve done some digging and here are the results:

That equals to 9 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw if you want to count the outcome of the match (as FIFA doesn’t count penalty kick losses a an official “loss” but rather a “draw”).
The reason why it’s seen as bad luck for many is because Argentina lost the 1990 World Cup final, wore it twice at the 2002 World Cup (which was a disaster for the team), wore it on the penalty shootout elimination at the 2006 World Cup and wore it in the final of the 2014 World Cup.
Per Copa America bracket, Argentina is seen as the “away” team in their match against the United States at the Copa America.
Due to the bracket, Argentina will play with their dark blue shirts in the semi-finals on Tuesday. This will be the first time the team plays with that shirt in this Copa America.
