Preliminary list of 57 for the Olympics

The preliminary list of 57 players for Argentina’s Olympic squad has been announced.

Ramiro FUNES MORI, Geronimo RULLI, Javier PINOLA, Jonatan MAIDANA, Mateo MUSACCHIO and Nahuel GUZMAN are the overage players (older than 23 years old).

For the first time under Tata MARTINO, Mauro ICARDI makes a list.

The list will have to be cut down to a final 18, with an additional 4 on standby should an emergency come up.

Argentina’s group at the 2016 Olympics

The draw has been made and the groups are out for Rio 2016.

Argentina will be put in Group D at the 2016 Rio Olympics alongside Honduras, Algeria and Portugal. Here are the rest of the groups:

Should Argentina finish first in the group, they would play whoever finishes second in Group C (likely to be either Mexico or Germany).

Dates for Copa and Olympic lists to be announced

With the Copa America coming up in two months (the tournament runs from June 3 until June 26), Tata MARTINO has a lot to think about regarding which players will make the cut and which ones will have to miss out.

However, he won’t have too long to think. MARTINO will have to announce his preliminary list of players for the Copa America at the end of the month. The list will have to be announced before April 29.

As for the Rio games (which run from August 3 until August 19), the preliminary list will have to be announced by June 1 with the final list being announced on July 14.
