Julián Álvarez scored for Atletico Madrid in their 2-1 loss against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Álvarez made it 22 goals this season with seven goals and one assist in the Champions League. With Real Madrid taking an early 1-0 lead, the Argentine received the ball down the wing, dribbled into the area and his curling effort beat Courtois to draw Atletico level.

Real Madrid would get a second goal to win the first leg. For Atletico Madrid it was Julián Álvarez, Rodrigo De Paul and Giuliano Simeone who started with Nahuel Molina and Ángel Correa being substituted into the match.

Racing Club has added another international title to its history after defeating Botafogo 4-0 on aggregate to claim the Recopa Sudamericana. Claudio Echeverri: “My idol has always been Messi”

Claudio Echeverri commented on Lionel Messi and the Argentine players that have played with Manchester City.

Echeverri has joined Manchester City after spending a year on loan at River Plate. He spoke about his transfer and on Manchester City’s website, commented on Lionel Messi. Here is what he had to say:

“My idol has always been Messi, I’ve been watching him since I was very young. Seeing him play is always a motivation because of everything he’s accomplished. Watching him play gives me an extra push, he makes me happy with the way he plays, he’s my idol, I admire him a lot…”

The 19 year old also commented on the relationship between City and Argentina players:

“I’ve spoken to Sergio Agüero, also Martin Demichelis. They told me Manchester City was a great club with amazing players and a beautiful history.

“I knew it (the relationship between Argentina and City). Agüero, in particular, stands out. He’s a legend at Manchester City; everything he achieved, the incredible player he was. I used to watch him and it’s an amazing feeling to be here.”

He also spoke about if he thinks City have a special reputation in Argentina:

“Yes I think so. Especially because of the players who have come here and done really well; Kun Agüero, Julián Álvarez, (Pablo) Zabaleta. All very important players. I’m at a great club with a lot of history.”
