Argentina’s U20 national team wrapped up a successful international break with a 2-0 victory over Australia in their second friendly match of the week. Played at the Nuevo Gasómetro (San Lorenzo’s stadium), this win followed a 2-1 triumph just three days earlier in Ezeiza, giving Diego Placente’s side a perfect record heading into preparations for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.
River Plate winger Ian Subiabre and Bayer Leverkusen forward Alejo Sarco — who also scored in the first match — provided the goals in Monday’s win. The Albiceleste controlled both games and gained valuable experience against an opponent they will face again in the group stage of the 2025 U20 World Cup, set to be played in Chile from September 27 to October 19.
The squad had been training at the Lionel Messi Training Complex in Ezeiza since June 2, capping off a productive week of work. With the friendlies concluded, the players will now return to their respective clubs to resume domestic competition.
