Alexis Mac Allister has spoken about how Lionel Scaloni changed his career.

Mac Allister became a starter with the Argentina national team during the 2022 World Cup. He started Argentina’s 2-0 win against Poland and has kept his place in the team since that match. Speaking in an intervoew with La Media Inglesa, here is what he had to say:

“The one who changed my career was Scaloni because he had the balls to put me in. We were in a situation where it was win or win and he still had the courage to say ‘let’s put Alexis, who is 21 years old and never played a World Cup match’. My thanks always go to him. Pérez signed with the Portuguese club, joining them from Newell’s Old Boys for €4 million. The 19 year old midfielder was close to joining Italian club Inter before joining FC Porto until 2029.

With the match tied at 1-1 in the 64th minute, the Argentine striker found himself with the ball just outside the six-yard box. Taking advantage of the goalkeeper’s poor positioning, Castellanos calmly struck a left-footed shot into an empty net, securing the 2-1 win for his team.

According to reports from TyC Sports, the worst news was confirmed on Monday after medical tests: Lisandro Martínez has torn his ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

The images from England had already raised concerns, but it wasn’t until today that Manchester United officially confirmed the diagnosis. The 27-year-old defender will require surgery and is expected to be sidelined for approximately six to eight months.
