Facundo Medina called up to the Argentina national team

Facundo Medina has been called up to the Argentina national team to replace the injured Lisandro Martínez for the upcoming double matchday against Paraguay and Peru.

The 25-year-old left-footed center-back from Lens has played 70 minutes with the Argentina senior team, always coming off the bench. He featured in two games during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and one friendly match.

With this confirmation, another left-footed center-back who was rumored as a potential replacement, Marcos Senesi of Bournemouth, will not be included in coach Lionel Scaloni’s squad.

Nicolás González was also confirmed days ago to be out of the squad due to injury, and it appears he will not be replaced.

The Argentina national team trained for the first time in November for their World Cup qualifying match against Paraguay.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni had most of his players available on Monday and the team trained for the first time ahead of their match on Thursday. Scaloni was without Nicolás Tagliafico, Alejandro Garnacho, Lautaro Martínez, Nehuen Pérez, Valentín Castellanos and Nicolás Otamendi, who will be joining the team on Tuesday.

Scaloni’s team will play Paraguay in a World Cup qualifying match on Thursday and will play Peru on Tuesday.

Germán Pezzella is out of the Argentina national team.

Pezzella will not be with the team for Argentina’s two World Cup qualifying matches. No reason has been given for Pezzella leaving the team.

The Argentina national team will be training on Monday as they prepare for the World Cup qualifiers.

Argentina national team players are on their way to join the team and begin training for their match against Paraguay. According to Gastón Edul, Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni will have about 20 players for Monday’s training.

Lionel Scaloni will have the entire team on Tuesday and will speak at a press conference on Wednesday before flying out the same day to Paraguay. Argentina will play Paraguay on Thursday.

Di María had two goals for Benfica, making it three goals and two assists in his last six league matches. With the score at 1-1, Di María received the ball inside the penalty area and his finish beat the goalkeeper to give Benfica the 2-1 lead.

At 2-1, Nehuén Pérez scored an own goal to make it 3-1 for Benfica. They were later awarded a penalty and it was Di María who took it.

The Argentine stepped up and went to the goalkeeper’s left, scoring his second goal of the match.
