After saying goodbye to Boca Juniors fans on social media, where he also criticized the club’s management, Nicolás Valentini was officially unveiled on Wednesday as Fiorentina’s new player.

The 23-year-old defender arrived in Italy before the New Year, completed his medical tests, and signed his contract with the Viola.

Valentini joined Fiorentina on a free transfer, so the club only needed to pay his salary. Boca Juniors did not receive any money for the move. “These last few months have been very hard for me, and leaving this way was never what I wanted. But there were decisions and actions that I couldn’t control,” the Argentine player said in a farewell post to Boca fans.

Valentini’s arrival happens as another Argentine defender, Lucas Martínez Quarta, is leaving Fiorentina. He is rumored to be close to rejoining his former club, River Plate.
