Emiliano Martínez has been included in the IFFHS World Team of the Year.

Martínez is the only Argentine player included in the team and is included in the team for the first time. The Argentine won the Copa America with the Argentina national team and was named the best goalkeeper of the Copa America. Here are the players that have made the team:

FC Porto and Brighton are in advanced negotiations for Valentín Barco to join the Portuguese club.

Valentín Barco could be joining FC Porto. According to Estadio Deportivo, FC Porto and Brighton are in advanced negotiations for Barco to join FC Porto on loan in January.

Barco would join on a loan deal with FC Porto having a buyout option. The 20 year old has been on loan at Sevilla from Brighton and has only taken part in seven league games.

River Plate, São Paulo, a club from the Premier League and a club from La Liga are interested in Gonzalo Montiel.

The Argentine could be leaving Sevilla. According to Gastón Edul, Montiel could be leaving Sevilla in January. River Plate want to sign Montiel and would have an offer for him.

Marcelo Gallardo’s team is not the only club interested in signing the 27 year old. São Paulo are also interested and a team from the Premier League and a team from La Liga are also interested in signing him.

Gonzalo Montiel joined Sevilla in 2021 from River Plate and spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Lucas Martínez Quarta is set to join River Plate from Fiorentina.

Martínez Quarta is expected to be returning to River Plate. According to Sebastián Srur, the 28 year old will be joining Marcelo Gallardo’s team from Fiorentina for €6 million on a three year deal.

The Argentine first joined Fiorentina in 2020 from River Plate.

Lamine Yamal comments on Lionel Messi

FC Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal commented on Lionel Messi in an Adidas video. The 17-year-old Spaniard, who recently won the Kopa Trophy and the Golden Boy Award in 2024, is seen by many as Messi’s successor.

Here’s what Lamine Yamal said about Lionel Messi:

“I really admire Messi’s personality, the type of personality that always strives to win. He has won a lot of titles and Ballon d’Or awards, but he always wants more.

“Even when he didn’t win the World Cup, he never stopped trying. That’s something I admire a lot, and it’s very difficult. When you win a title, it’s easy to relax a little, but he never did that.

“And certainly now, he still has the desire to win more titles and more World Cups. That’s what I like most about him.”
