Alejandro Garnacho scored for Manchester United in their thrilling 3-2 home victory against Bodø/Glimt on Matchday 5 of the UEFA Europa League.
The Argentine winger opened the scoring in the very first minute after capitalizing on excellent pressure from Rasmus Højlund and a costly mistake by the goalkeeper. Garnacho simply had to sprint forward and tap the ball into an empty net.
Fellow Argentine Lisandro Martínez also started for the Red Devils but was substituted in the 60th minute.
Manchester United’s win keeps their hopes alive in the competition as they eye qualification for the knockout stages.
Alexis Mac Allister scored and won the Man of the Match award for Liverpool in their 2-0 home win over Real Madrid on matchday five of the Champions League.
In the 52nd minute, the Argentine midfielder took the ball at the edge of the penalty area, played a one-two with Conor Bradley, and scored with a low right-footed shot into the corner to make it 1-0.
Mac Allister was named the player of the match and received an 8.7 rating on Sofascore. This goal marked his second in five Champions League games with Liverpool this season.
Ángel Di María assisted twice for Benfica in their 3-2 win vs. Monaco.
Di María had two assists for Benfica in their win against Monaco in the Champions League. With Monaco leading 2-1, Di María sent in a cross to Arthur Cabral and he would head it and score to draw Benfica level.
The Argentine would get his second assist of the match minutes after getting his first. This time on the right side of the pitch, he would send a cross in to Zeki Amdouni and he would score to give Benfica the 3-2 lead.
Nicolás Otamendi would also start the match for Benfica and Benjamín Rollheiser would be brought on as a substitute.
Julián Álvarez and Ángel Correa both scored twice, while Giuliano Simeone provided an assist in Atlético Madrid’s dominant 6-0 away victory over Sparta Praha on Matchday 5 of the Champions League.
“The Spider” opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a stunning free-kick, curling the ball perfectly over the Sparta Praha wall and into the back of the net.
With Diego Simeone’s team leading 2-0 by the 59th minute, Julián Álvarez initiated a counter-attack deep in Atlético’s half. He carried the ball all the way to the edge of the opposition’s penalty area, played a one-two with Giuliano Simeone, and finished clinically with his right foot past the oncoming goalkeeper, making it 3-0.
In the 78th minute, all the Argentines on the field—Rodrigo De Paul, Giuliano Simeone, and Julián Álvarez—were substituted off. Ángel Correa was among the players brought on as reinforcements.
With Atlético already leading 4-0 in the 85th minute, Correa received the ball at the edge of the six-yard box and struck it first-time with his right foot, netting the team’s fifth goal.
Just four minutes later, Correa rounded off the scoring. After a scrappy play inside the penalty area, he calmly slotted the ball into the net from near the penalty spot, sealing a 6-0 victory for Atlético Madrid.
Javier Mascherano has been named as the new coach of Inter Miami.
Mascherano is the new coach of Inter Miami and will be taking over after the club receives his work documents. His coach staff has not yet been announced.
The Argentine will be stepping down as coach of the Argentina U20 team and Diego Placente is expected to be named as the new coach. Speaking on Inter Miami’s website, here is what Mascherano had to say:
