The Argentina starting eleven has been announced with Lionel Messi and Valentín Carboni starting while Nicolás González is at left back against Guatemala.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni stated on Thursday that Lionel Messi will be in the starting eleven. Messi does start and as does Valentín Carboni, who is in the starting eleven for the first time.

Nicolás González also starts but as left back. Here is the starting eleven:

The reigning World Cup champions will play Guatemala on Friday in Washington, D.C. in their final match before they defend their Copa America title. Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has already confirmed that Lionel Messi will start the match.

It was also reported that Nicolás González and Alexis Mac Allister will start the game. The match kicks off at 8:00 pm Eastern, 5:00 pm Pacific in North America. Here are the world wide kick off times.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about Ángel Di María and how he has to enjoy playing.

Lionel Scaloni spoke at a press conference on Thursday and commented on Ángel Di María playing at the Copa America. Di María has mentioned several times that the matches at the 2024 Copa America will be his last with the Argentina national team. Speaking to the media, here is what Scaloni had to say:

“I’m not going to talk to Di María about what’s going to happen. He has to enjoy playing. We always think about ‘when he’s not there’. There are games ahead. He’s happy here.”

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about the players who would be left out of the team for the Copa America and the opener against Canada.

Lionel Scaloni spoke at a press conference on Thursday where he stated that Lionel Messi will start vs. Guatemala on Friday. He also praised Alejandro Garnacho and spoke about Germán Pezzella and Guido Rodríguez being in the team.

Scaloni also commented on the players who would be left out of the team for the Copa America in the United States. Here is what he had to say:

“The players who are left off the list surely also deserve to be on it. That’s painful, but we have to make a decision.”
