AFA approves rule for Argentine clubs to release players

The AFA have approved a rule for Argentine clubs to release players for the national team.

Argentine clubs must now release their players to the Argentina national team, no matter the category. According to Hernán Castillo, a meeting within the AFA Was held in December and they approved that the clubs would have to release their players.

This has not always been the case, specifically for previous youth tournaments where clubs were not obliged and did not release their players for the national team.

Argentina U20 World Cup preliminary list, Alejandro Garnacho included

Argentina U20 coach Javier Mascherano has submitted his preliminary list of players for the U20 World Cup.

Javier Mascherano has included several European based players and one from the MLS as his preliminary list incldues 37 names. Mascherano has named 10 players from Europe and one from the MLS in the United States. Here are the 37 names:

Argentina video, four months after winning the 2022 World Cup

More videos are being released of Argentina winning the 2022 World Cup, four months after they lifted the trophy.

It has been exactly four months since the Argentina national team lifted the World Cup. The tournament in Qatar produced many memories and FIFA released a video of Argentina at the World Cup.

From the tears of 1990 in Italy, to the shock of 1994, heart break of 1998, disaster of 2002, disbelief of 2006, embarrassment of 2010, the so close of 2014 and disorganization of 2018 to pure ecstasy of 2022 in Qatar.

Argentina have qualified for the 2023 U17 World Cup!

Diego Placente’s team will be at the U!7 World Cup this year! Following the team’s 0-0 draw vs. Paraguay in the Sudamericano, Venezuela won 2-0 vs. Chile which gave Argentina the qualification.

Four South American teams qualify for the tournament, with Argentina, Ecuador and Brazil having already secured their place. The tournament will take place between November 10 and December 2 but the host is yet to be determined.

Peru were initially set to host the tournament but had to back out to due infrastructual defects.

Argentina officially named hosts of 2023 U20 World Cup, draw on Friday

Argentina have officially been named hosts of the 2023 U20 World Cup with the draw on Friday.

The reigning World Cup champions will be hosting a FIFA tournament in a month’s time. AFA president Chiqui Tapia has been working with the federation and they have reached an agreement with FIFA to become the new hosts of the tournament.

Original hosts Indonesia were removed from their duties due to political issues with Israel and it was made official on Monday that Argentina are the new hosts. The tournament will be from May 20 until June 11 with 24 teams with six groups of four teams.

As hosts of the tournament, Argentina, coached by Javier Mascherano, will be participating after having initially not qualified. FIFA president Gianni Infantino released the following statement:

“FIFA is delighted to announce that this year’s edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup will take place in Argentina, as the home of the world champions opens its doors to the tomorrow’s superstars of world football.

“I would like to thank the AFA and particularly its President Claudio Tapia, as well as the governmental authorities, for their commitment to hosting this magnificent event at such short notice.

“The U-20 World Cup plays a key role in FIFA’s efforts to promote youth football across the world. Since 1977, this tournament has featured some of the greatest players of the past decades, including Diego Armando Maradona, Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, Erling Haaland and many others. Having this year’s edition taking place in a country that lives and breathes football will be a tremendous inspiration for the stars of tomorrow.”
