Emiliano Martínez made a few big saves for Aston Villa in their 2-1 win vs. Leeds United.

Martínez continued his World Cup winning form for his club as he stopped what was a sure goal for Leeds. A cross into the penalty area and an effort from a few years out but Martínez made a massive save to maintain Aston Villa’s lead.

A second save and just from inside of the penalty area by Martínez as he would save a shot that was going into the corner of the goal. Those saves went with Emiliano Buendía scoring for Aston Villa as both Argentine players continued to show their worth.

Alejandro Garnacho got an assist for Manchester United in their 2-1 win vs. Manchester City in the derby.

Garnacho was brought on as a substitute in the second half and had an impact. After a goal scored by United which City believed to be offside, Garnacho would make no mistake on the assist.

The 18 year old made a run out wide and played a ball into the penalty area which was scored by Martial for United’s second goal of the match. Lisandro Martínez was brought on as a substitute for United while Julián Álvarez remained on the bench for City.

Emiliano Buendía scored for Aston Villa in their 2-1 win vs. Leeds United.

Buendía has made it two goals in three matches, with both goals coming at the start of the new year. This time, a header from close range.

An initial shot on target was saved by the goalkeeper but Buendia was the first to react to it as he headed the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0 for Aston Villa.

The Argentine has done well since Unai Emery has become coach at the club, starting their last eight league matches.

Ángel Di María scored for Juventus in their 5-1 loss vs. Napoli.

Di María scored his first goal since scoring in the World Cup final and winning the World Cup with the Argentina national team. A bright spot in a Juventus loss, the ball fell to Di María inside the penalty area and he scored.

Leandro Paredes and Matías Soulé both came on as substitutes for Juventus.
