Mastantuono, Barrenechea, Lomónaco, and Troilo called up for Argentina

Franco Mastantuono (River Plate), Enzo Barrenechea (Valencia), Kevin Lomónaco (Independiente), and Mariano Troilo (Belgrano) have been called up by Lionel Scaloni for Argentina’s June double-header against Chile and Colombia.

Mastantuono and Lomónaco, both enjoying strong form in the local league and seen as promising prospects, had already been on the radar of the national team coach in recent weeks.

The biggest surprise was the inclusion of Troilo, a 21-year-old center-back from Belgrano, who has earned his first senior call-up despite never having been part of Argentina’s youth teams.

Meanwhile, Barrenechea is expected to take the spot vacated by Nicolás Domínguez, who is out with a meniscus injury.

Mac Allister, Garnacho, Castellanos, and Domínguez out for Argentina

The final squad list for Argentina’s June matches against Chile and Colombia has been officially announced. In addition to a few surprises among the call-ups, four players from the preliminary list have been left out.

Nicolás Domínguez (the Nottingham Forest midfielder is out with a meniscus injury), Alejandro Garnacho and Valentín Castellanos (left out for tactical reasons), and Alexis Mac Allister (still dealing with discomfort and missed Liverpool’s last two games of the season) will not be part of the team.
