Argentina have won Group J at the World Cup.
The Argentina national team won 3-0 against Algeria and 2-0 against Austria to get to six points in their group and with one game remaining in the group, they have secured first place. Algeria winning 2-1 against Jordan means that no matter the result of Argentina’s match against Jordan, they will end the group in first place.
Lionel Scaloni’s team will play the runner up of Group H which is the group of Spain, Uruguay, Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia. The Round of 32 game will be on July 3 in Miami.

It’s time to find calm. Knockout stages will be complicated this time. There hasn’t been a lot of surprises in group round as most big names navigated to safety. Upsets will take place from this point on.
Of course, I would like Argentina have an easier route. But some big names surely we will face in KOs. I am not sure who would be better cabo verde or Uruguay. If cabo verde it is, if we cannot score by 90 min, we will be in trouble. Their GK is riding on good fortune and performance.
Good luck to Messi.
Cheer for cap verde . They are easier opponent than Uruguay
Saw a video of our team training without Messi. Feeling worried about that. What’s the news? We need some new faces in the starting XI. But for the last 20 mins we would need the routine starting XI so that we can bring back some fluidity in the team. All said and done, our attacking line missed fluidity in both the matches. I am sure that is not part of Scaloni’s script. We could create only very few chances. Our set-pieces have been below par too. Messi, if available, should be brought into that last 20 mins. Alvarez and Lautaro should learn to take responsibility in his absence. Also Barco and Paz need some game time and show their mettle, if they really have the world cup nerves in them.
No news currently
I think for the Jordan game 10 players should be completely rotated except Messi. Why? fuck the record, i dont care, the only thing we care is eventually defending the crown not these petty individual records who even messi doesnt care. The reason I want messi to start and to play atleast 65-70 minutes so that the bench players can bring chemistry with Goat, and we have luxury to do it, as we have won the group, other teams dont even have that luxury.
Those records are pointless they will only increase as football and scoring is far easier today than yesterday fifa made DAMB sure of that also no one ever mentions in how many games goal ratio it’s the low iq stats era of Gen Z nsrcasism and caveman brain iv seen idiots online say maradona STATS were 5 goals 5 assists as tho that explains his performance in 1986 the greatest athletes c performance in tv broadcast history all sports all time wtf has 5 goals got to do with that be man taking on whole teams on his own covering every blade of grass being brutally tackled thruout someone please explain how that makes any sense we are in the dumbest era of modern mankind trump 550 yrs in prison 100% convinced this was there reality wen in reality the complete onsite happened there is a huge online global display of very low iq TODAY
Agree with about stats and Maradona. Not everything can be measured with simple statistics. And yes, we should aim for the cup much more than records. Messi can play 45 minutes (one half of the game), but please not more than that. We want a fit Messi for later stages.
Want to see Paz, lo celso , barco , simeone , ota and tagliofico to get more minutes.Lopez should get some mins as well.
Messi if wants to play then yes and sub him within 60 mins.
If Goat & Scaloni decides Messi to start i would like to see something like this :
1. Musso (Emi can be rested & heal his hand better )
2. Molina ( He needs more time to improve, Montiel can be given 20/30 minutes. Or change into 3 men back after first substitution with Simeone at right)
3&4. Otamendi & Lisandro (Senesi coming in for minutes in 2nd half either for a full back or for Lisandro)
5. Tagliafico (His chance to prove he can offer more than the so far solid Medina )
6. Simeone
7. Paredes/Palacios
8. Lo Celso (Nico Paz as Sub)
9. Barco/Nico (With minutes to Almada)
10. Alvarez (Lautaro as sub)
11. Messi (Some good minutes for Flaco as sub in)
Messi should definitely get minutes against Jordan…there’s almost a week period before our RO32 match. Get the GOAT to extend the lead for the golden boot and all-time top scorer. Haaland and Mbappe might draw blanks when they face each other, so it’s the perfect time to statpad! Might sound selfish, but we won the World Cup already, might as well go for some individual records here! At least Messi can hold the records in this edition, before it may eventually get broken on the next edition.
The players on the bench need to get a little more familiar with Messi on the pitch in an actual competitive game not in training before the knockout stages just like in 2022 where Enzo and McAlister came into the team during the group stage (albeit different circumstances). I believe Nico Paz, Simeone, Barco and Flaco Lopez need to build more chemistry with Messi especially at this year’s World Cup. Messi can play up to 70’ minutes against Jordan. Jordan is out, all they will be playing for now is pride, this is a nice opportunity for Messi to extend his record…Before, I was against Messi starting against Jordan, but the likes of Mbappe and Holland playing in the last group game changed my mind.
I’m like the Messi team mates, Messi might not care about the records but I do. At least let them break Messi’s record at the next WC, surely not this one…
One thing I have noticed is that a big score line proves nothing.. Switzerland tied with Qatar then defeated Bosnia by five goals to one. England defeated Croatia by four goals to two then tied with Ghana. Sweden defeated Tunisia five goals to one then got blown away by the Netherlands who tied with Japan in the previous game. Portugal defeated Uzbekistan by five goals while tying with Dr. Congo in the previous game…The big score lines are often misleading. England would have scored five or more goals against Uzbekistan too, so this game proves nothing.
I was against this idea until Yesterday night.
I feel now. Fck it, let him play atleast till 60 minutes.
Hi nice to see all the comments I finalky figured out my login..
One thing I really liked from Argentina against Austria was how comfortable we looked keeping possession, especially when we recycled the ball all the way back towards our own goal.
Austria did not really press much until late in the second half, but whenever we played it back to the defenders or goalkeeper there was never any panic. We kept the ball moving, picked the right passes and stayed in control rather than just launching it long.
As we all say it will get tougher with harder apponents.

I wish Scaloni rotate all players including Messi. Let Messi play some minutes in second half.
Musso
Montiel-Ota-Senesi-Tagli
LoCelso-Paredes-Barco
Paz
Simeone-Alvarez
Come on Ghana🇬🇭 i want Tuchel to suffer with English media!
They did it! These English players are always overrated. Kane missed a sitter from a few yards….and English media calls him the best striker in the world, the second coming of Pele etc. Others are equally bad (one player that does scare me is Jude Bellingham, he has a very non-English attitude, and has won big titles etc). Our team looking very strong for a deep run (and hopefully victory) in the tournament. Need some luck (penalties, draw etc.), but Scaloni has done an incredible job building this team…and building it into something very different since Di Maria retired.
Lol they kept a clean sheet
Against Jordan if Scaloni willing to rotate and hopefully will rest Enzo, Mac, De Paul and Messi.
Also no need to use Cuti at all and hopefully he will be back to round of 32! Also no need for Licha to start either as Senesi can start instead of him.
Rest Dibu if still needeed and his finger not fully healed yet….
Not sure if Scaloni will use Simeone as RB, but currently having only Molina as RB maybe would be better not to take risk, but also Molina needs a bit more playing time since he has just returned from injury. So difficult decission to make, but Scaloni knows best.
So Otamendi Senesi should both start and Medina with Tagliafigo can each play 45 min+
If Paredes not ready to start yet, Lo Celso Palacios Barco and anyway deffenetly want Barco to start.
Paz Lopez/Toro and if Alvarez not ready to start Nico.G or Almada can start and Alvarez hopefully at least get’s 45 min+.
Watching Uruguay’s last 2 game’s it look’s very unlikely that Argentina will play Uruguay as i think they will loose against Spain. Alsoi i don’t think a draw will be enough for them as i belive one of Saudi Arabia or Capo Verde will win a, but also a draw will be enough for Spain to top their group.
But, offcourse one never knows in football…., but Uruguay have looked really lost so far….
I totally agree with you in next match scaloni should use barco, paz, simeone, palacios, senesi, messi must rest at least one half
When Medina was selected, there were many surprises & cries (including me). But it is turning out to be a very decent selection & clearly the most improved player in last 2 matches. No better time than the Jordan game for Paz, Barco, Simeone,Palacios, GLC & even Senesi & Flaco getting solid minutes. Really hope Messi takes rest & not chasing the golden boot or widen the gap with Mbappe. Maybe Messi can come in the 70th minute for a lethal cameo. Mostly R32 & R16 will be relatively easier opponents & one match at a time. Vamos.
Interesting that Dallas was where Maradona gave his interview post 94 expulsion & Messi also fires in Dallas. Also June 22 is the day of 2 goals in Maradona’s 86 England game & Messi’s Austria.
True..Facundo Medina deserves respect, he did his job tremendously well as a makeshift LB in two big World cup games, now taglia can take over, also almada much improved performance, and 🐐 as usual!!
Vamos Argentina 🇦🇷
Medina also registered 32.7 km/h top speed in last match, highest for any Argentina player.
I still think Barco will see more playing time in the later stages of the tournament.
Scaloni will certainly play different formations and different players in the knock out states like he did in 2022. He played 3-4-3, 3-5-2, 4-5-1. McAllister and Enzo were surprises for the opponents. He brought in Di Maria in the final after Maria missing quarter and semi final (Maria played a very few mins in quarterfinals maybe). We’ll definitely see new faces and new formations going forward.
Nico Gonzalez 35,4 Molina 35,1 Alvarez 34,8 (Simeone is as fast too) Almada 34,2 Medina 33,8. At least on sofascore, check it, opta datas.
Sofascore shows 32.5 for Molina, 31.0 for Almada.
For those who came from bench, Nico hit 31.9 km/h. Only Alvarez was 34.8 km/h.
Im talking about full WC highest speeds
Welcome back…
Golden boot is vital.only major achievement messi yet to achieve he needs to play.there is enough time left for the proper rest
The cup is vital nothing else
They are incarnation of the same demigod
Certainly, Medina is extremely improved in last 22 matches and Kudos to Scaloni for that. But like the first game, Medina does get a brain freeze once in a while. See replay on header by Gregoritsch in 67′ minute of the game. Medina was just frozen there – didn’t even attempt a jump. It was good luck that header was not in correct direction else we would have conceded a pressure creating goal.
Wow Vamosss… now for the jordan game we can fully rotate playing 11!!!!
Austria is a tough team who qualified with ease out of their euro group with tactical play, solid defense and great set piece goals…which 7 of their last ten goals in all games have been from set pieces fyi.
We have to hope Romero is back healthy and that Medina can hold until Taglia gets his full form back. I think nico g has proven that he should take Almada position on the wing on left and I still feel that we may need to sacrifice that lb position for another midfielder such as parades to help back on defense but what do I know, I’ve only been watching this team since 1990 Italia! 😂
In Scaloni we trust!
