Michael Owen spoke in an interview about Enzo Fernández and Lionel Messi.

Owen played many of the top clubs in the world and once scored against Argentina at the 1998 World Cup. Speaking in an interview with ESPN Argentina, the Englishman spoke about Argentine players and which would he would sign. Here is what he had to say:

“Well obviously Maradona and Messi, they’re straight in, they’re straight in. Who else would I say? Yeah, Garnacho is good, Garnacho is good. Would he get into Liverpool’s team? I don’t think so, I don’t think so.

“I mean I used to love Batistuta but I’m thinking of my generation of players. I like Enzo Fernández, yeah. I think he’s brilliant, I really like him. When they signed him and Caicedo, I thought oh that could be the best partnership in the Premier League. It took a long time to gel but now they’re starting to look good but I think Enzo Fernández is top class.

“If I was the Liverpool manager and I had to put an Argentinean in there now, I think I would probably play him in midfield, yeah.

“One player that’s not been in the Premier League? Yeah, Messi, Messi, yeah, he’s going to be suitable for anybody. It must be Manchester City, I mean with Pep, Pep knows him, they’re a passing team, it has to be Manchester City, yeah.”
