Mauro ICARDI has commented on being chosen for the preliminary list of players for the 2016 Olympics. He also spoke about the National Team, Maxi LOPEZ and more.
“I’m a fan of Newell’s. My idol as a kid was Lucas BERNARDI”.
“It surprised me to be in the preliminary list for the Olympics because they said I wouldn’t be on it. It is great to be on the list for the Olympics because it is a reward for my performances at Inter.”
“I understand the media coverage regarding my relationship with Wanda. But it’s been 3 years. I prefer they judge me for my playing. Only in Italy do they talk about me for my goals. I’m wearing the armband that ZANETTI used to wear. Everyone knows how I am in the Inter locker room. But in Argentina, no one knows me”.
“Argentina has the best forwards in the world. My biggest honor would be playing with the National Team.”
Regarding his personal life between his wife Wanda and his former team-mate Maxi LOPEZ:
“I was a friend of the couple, an acquaintance, and it was all very normal. After that, he and Wanda split up and we kept in touch, and it just happened. I fell in love, that’s something you should judge solely on its own merits. But he was not my best friend or anything like that. We were team-mates at Sampdoria and nothing else.”
