Argentina’s U20 World Cup squad has been announced.

Argentina U20 coach Claudio UBEDA has named his 21 man squad for the U20 World Cup next month in South Korea. Among the two called to the team are Santiago COLOMBATTO and Ezequiel PONCE, two European based players.

As we reported earlier this week, UBEDA had named a list of 23 players who trained on Monday. The team will fly to Vietnam where they will take part in two friendly matches. Here’s the squad:

Goalkeepers:

Franco PETROLI (River Plate)

Manuel ROFFO (Boca Juniors)

Defenders:

Juan FOYTH (Estudiantes de La Plata)
Gonzalo MONTIEL (River Plate)
Milton VALENZUELA (Newell’s Old Boys)
Marcos SENESI (San Lorenzo)
Lisandro MARTINEZ (Newell’s Old Boys)
Leonel MOSEVICH (Argentinos Juniors)

Midfielders:

Santiago ASCACIBAR (Estudiantes de la Plata)
Exequiel PALACIOS (River Plate)

Santiago COLOMBATTO (Cagliari, Italy)

  1. I don’t think Conechny is player for No.10. This is not the same player as he was in Argentina U-17. He is fat.

  2. I think Palacios is partner for Ascacibar. He is quite tall and stronger phisically than Colombatto. But I agree about Cagliari player. We need creative player in the middle and hope in Palacios or Colombatto.

  3. The most important inclusion isn’t Ponce… who did virtually nothing since he’s in Europe, but Santiago COLOMBATTO (Cagliari, Italy). Assuming Ubeda does the right thing… basically starting him as s starter, the midfield is bound to be hugely upgraded with Colombatto. A very promising prospect.
