  1. Hopefully both Banega and Pizarro will regularly start together and by adding Nacho Fernandez in the list, we can have a fluid midfield, a huge improvement on Masche-Biglia pair.

  2. Is Paredes’s move to Zenit that bad?I don’t think so.He has already started 2 full matches for Zenit, did really well. Here he is an important player, most importantly the manager, Roberto Mancini asked for him. Mancini might not be the best manager in the world, but he developed Zabaleta who were nothing special when arrived, helped Toure, Silva and Aguero to fulfill their potential, tracked and developed Kompany into a worldclass defender.

Yes Russia is not the most glamorous place, but next worldcup will be held in Russia. If paredes moved to Juventus, his starting spot will always be in doubt. If he moved to Liverpool, there was a big chance that he would struggle to blend in. No midtable Spanish clubs showed an interest in him, Roma was not going to let him go cheap.

Regular playing time under a decent manager is what Paredes need right now.He can move to a better place next time.

Leandro Paredes (23) v Rubin Kazan:

    114 touches
    88.2% pass accuracy
    82 completed passes
    13/15 long balls
    3 key passes
    2 interceptions

    • I don’t think Russia is an issue. But the manager is a huge issue for his development. He needs to play under a manager who applies pressing, movement, passing under pressure etc.

Under mancini he will develop none of those…he will just develop into a Biglia, where he could be a Veratti if he played under those managers and those clubs.
