Lautaro Martínez has commented on Argentina winning the Finalissima and the World Cup.

Martínez had a goal and an assist in Argentina’s 3-0 win vs. Italy in the Finalissima. He scored with Lionel Messi assisting as he assisted Ángel Di María on his goal. Speaking with ESPN, here is what he had to say about the win:

“The truth is that this is priceless. We are honestly happy for this, for the play and for what this group is. What happens within (the group) is important. It’s nice to feel the support. Since we started this process, we have felt close to the people and that helps.”

In regards to his goal:

“I saw (Messi) who raised his head. I was in the middle of the two center backs, they didn’t follow him. Luckily the goalkeeper stayed put.”

Regarding his assist to Ángel Di María:

“It took me a little longer to give it to him because Chiellini was closing the space on me but I was able to pass it to him before he was offside. Then the goal is all his.”

About the World Cup:

“It would be beautiful but we have to be aware that there is still missing a few months and we still have to keep correcting things.”

  1. Lautaro seems to have been working hard. There was an article in Italian press three months back which said that the problem with Lautaro is that he is not improving. He came back and showed definite improvement with Inter ending up with 20+ in this season. He looked solid today too. He dribbled, he kept possession, scored and assisted. He can be our next big thing. He should keep working hard.

  2. When Lautaro is on fire, Di Maria looks like one of the best right wingers in the world and Messi being Messi. Plus amazing defense and World class goalkeeper, man. Everyone should be very scared.
