Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni submits list of 31 players for the 2022 World Cup

1. Cut the following from the list of 29 above:

   Joaquín
   Almada
   Armani (but I know Scaloni is going to cut Musso)

2. I would drop Armani, Medina, Musso, Pezzella, Macallister.

3. Out of the list of 29 players submitted by Scaloni( as per TYC) only 3 will be the unfortunate ones to be left out. If Scaloni decides to go with 9 defenders then this list has exactly 9 defenders and Foyth will be picked which means team management are convinced he is fully fit. However if he decides to go with 8 midfielders then it all depends on Locelso’s fitness. Even if Locelso is picked then both Enzo & MacAllister could be picked as well. T.Almada’s only chance is if Locelso doesn’t go and 8 midfielders are selected. Dybala is very close to a comeback which means only one spot is undecided in forward’s department and that means only one Correa will go.

   • However as per Ole the list submitted has 32 players with Musso, Medina and N.Perez the three players missing . These three will be backups incase of any injuries. Also, they think Locelso has very slim chances of making which means both Enzo and MacAllister along with a 9th defender will be in the sqaud.

4. Roy Nemer, this list is NOT correct. First, you have 30 names listed, not 31. Juan Musso is not going according to TYC sports. Where is Ezequiel Palacios? Can you republish?

   • Plus Facundo medina is in the 31 list is between him and foyth

     • So that would be 32 not 31 he submitted?

   • Its actually 29 players list submitted by Scaloni and Musso’s name seems to have been added in error by Roy. It should be Palacios instead.

     • Musso is there in the 31list.palacios is also there. Roy missed 2 names here and posted 29 names. The list is

       • So the list will drop most likely Medina Almada Musso Angel Correa and Lo Celso. I hope it’s Almada instead of MacAllister though but that’s wishful thinking. Only real replacement without Almada for GLC is Palacios and we know how frail he is

         • Yes but picking almada will be huge risk. He has no big game experience didn’t play much with the team so no chemistry. You don’t have to replace locelso with complete clone of locelso anyway. Different players will bring different things and a new variety. Look at Guardiola teams he played same philosophy in all 3 clubs he didn’t have xavi Iniesta busquets in Bayern or city. In Bayern or city the midfielders were completely different profile yet they able to play with same philosophy same kind of domination. The system is more important than who r playing in it

5. Mamoun – shame Dominguez didn’t even make the 31. Im sure he’ll join after the WC. What’s his best position?

   • Mamoun can correct me if I am wrong, but I think box-to-box midfielder whose role models back at Velez were Toni Kross and Veratti. So a central midfielder with a dual role.

     • “a CM with a dual role”. That’s exactly right EnganChe! Nico started out as a ‘5’ but has the passing range to be a CM and has the ‘going forward’ attitude to be an attacking midfielder.

   • Agreed Chori, he’s been regaining his form during the last 4 matches and I think he would’ve been ideal to replace either Celso or De Paul but alas…..
     Atleast Enzo and Almada are still there (for now).

   • Nicolas Dominguez never started for Argentina. He played 11 matches.. but was never used for more than 36 minutes. His last NT match was one year before. How can we expect Scaloni will call a player like that to the WC..?
     May be in future.

6. Very boring list. Practically no surprises here. Looks like scaloni read some post of this blog and released the list 😂😂😂

    • Just a few months ago who would have thought that Thiago Almada would move above Nico Dominguez in the pecking order so close to the WC?
