Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about Rodrigo De Paul’s fitness after the media had reported that he had issues.

Lionel Scaloni spoke at a press conference on Thursday and one of the topics of discussion was Rodrigo De Paul’s fitness. Several media outlets out of Argentina had reported that De Paul was not fit. Speaking at the press conference, here is what Scaloni had to say:

“Yesterday we had training behind closed doors. I don’t know how you know that Rodrigo might have something strange. So, if they are feeling well, then we will see in today’s training if they will be in the line-up.

“He (De Paul) trained yesterday, also Di Maria trained yesterday. Sometimes, players who have played before, will only complete half of the training. We will see today if they are able to play or not. The information you get from the press is difficult to manage.”

  1. This match would be a big test of Scaloni as a strategist. Argentina was clueless for first 15 mins against another Eurpean giant Italy. Then suddenly a Messi magic brought the team so much back into the game that Italy remained guessing what to do next. That Messi and Lautaro moment woke up the whole team. Even in that game did not see any great starting strategy from Scaloni. His changes were good. But all credit was to Messi, Di Maria and Lautaro for bringing back Argentina to the game after the first 15 mins of struggle. This Argentina team is no longer same as that match. We do not have Lo Celso, we have Paredes, Di Maria recovering from injury, De Paul coming out of scanty game time. Scaloni has much to prove with this unfortunate situation in by far the toughest match for them in this tournament.

  2. Angel Di Maria and Rodrigo De Paul practiced with all others normally according to Gaston Edul latest update.

รngel Di Marรญa y Rodrigo De Paul hacen la entrada en calor del entrenamiento a la par del resto.

I think they both will start. This is the quarter final of the World Cup. If you watched Spain-Marocco game. Marocco number 6 clearly had a hamstring injury in the extra time, but he kept playing. I am sure Di Maria and De Paul will start.

The question is who the full backs going to be. Is it really Montiel and Tagli?
Our possible opponents in the semi final is brazil. In the final probably France or England. All these teams have deadly left wingers in Vini Jr/Neymar, Mbappe, or Foden/Rashford. So what? We will start Montiel from now on or what? If Scaloni thinks that his defense is that good.

Netherlands left side is not as dangerous as their right side. Blind is more defensive minded than Dumfries. I don’t think Montiel is that much needed now.

De Paul played all the minutes so far and he is the player that runs the most out of all players so far. So it is normal if he is rested a but in the training session.

  3. Someone please tell that old shit Van Gaal to stop talking about our players & instead concentrate the match. Idiot provoking every single of Argentine players. If they show up then he will need bucket to carry his shit home

  4. Before Australia match, Scaloni also said Di Maria is ok. He told the journalist that he knows more.

I think De Paul has fitness issue but may be not big.

    • When asked about รngel Di Marรญa, here is what he had to say:

โ€œYesterday was a day of recovery for most, thatโ€™s why yesterdayโ€™s training was to analyze Australia. This afternoonโ€™s training will give us a clearer picture. After practice, we will decide the team, according to รngelโ€™s progress and other players. If he is okay, he will play

  5. This Netherlands team reminded me of France 2018, very pragmatic playing style, few expected goals but very efficient, no obvious weakness in defense. They tend to leave the possession to their opponents and they rely on their qualities in transition for scoring goals.

    • Yes, Portugal reminded you Spain 2010. England reminded you Germany 2014. You sorryass can just quit watching this WC. You will shit your pants.

    • What made you think this Netherlands side is 2018 france level?? Do they have mbappe?? No. Do they have Pogba?? No. Do they have Griezmann?? No. Only good midfielder they have is De Jong. Their defense is solid but they have a big weakness in their defense and that is mr. Dumbfries. He is great going forward but shaky in defense. Their goalkeeper is not properly tested and van dijk and timber didn’t play well for their respective clubs this season. I think this Netherlands side is quite beatable

    Notes:

    1. The numbers we conceded goals in the last 16 matches are 5 goals only (1 against Chile, 1 against Ecuador, 2 against Saudi, and 1 against Australia)

    2. Acuna is better both offensively and defensively than Tagliafico. Most people think that Tagliafico is a better defender than Acuna, but we conceded 0 goal with Acuna and we conceded 5 goals with Tagliafico in similar minutes!

    3. MacAllister, Lo Celso, and Pezzella have the best impact defensively too as with those 3 on the pitch, we conceded 0 goal. But in Pezzella case, he was mostly used in easy and unimportant matches.

    4. Cuti Romero and Licha Martinez numbers are identical as we conceded 3 goals only when they were on the pitch.

    5. Offensively Molina is much better than Montiel but defensively, we only conceded 1 goal with Montiel on the pitch, and that was the Australia fluke goal from the deflection, otherwise it would have been 0 goal. The same goes to Enzo Fernandez, whose team wouldnโ€™t have conceded any goal had Australia not scored that deflection goal.

    6. Tagliafico number both offensively and defensively is reall bad. We conceded the most with him on the pitch and we scored not that much with him on the pitch.

Safe to say if Scaloni wants to go full defense for the fullbacks, the best combinations are Montiel and Acuna.

  7. We are all losing our mind a little bit, let me do it too

Emi; Montiel, Romero, Otamendi, Tagliafico; Molina, Guido, Lisandro, Acuna; Messi, Alvarez.

Ultra defensive, the Dutch shall not pass/because we are afraid of Van Gaal, 4-4-2

Stop them with double fullbacks and double DMs of Guido and Lisandro who can also drop between Otamendi and Romero to form a back 6!

    LOL

  8. All nonsense coming out. These days if someone has constipation itโ€™s on three outlets. As I said in my previous post, both will play, but just not likely to play 90 minutes.
Also itโ€™s time for our predictions. Please share yours!
    Argentina 2 Netherlands 0

  10. Lionel Scaloni: โ€œI’m not going to plan a game thinking about penalties. We work to win the game in 90 minutes. We will train and see the lineup we define. Yes, surely the players who are in the 100% condition, will play it.โ€

  11. i am also worrying our players fitness. Before starting this tournmnt most of our players not in good shape. Only problem Scaloni did he depends and believes in lautaro and locelso. He not much tried better backup for these players. Bcz thy are keeping a very very imp. role in his team Atlast tht happnd one is injured other is in bad foam…

    • I saw few minutes live yesterday but so glad you found the entire video. I honestly cracked up the entire time. I always find it amusing to see the human side of super athletes. Messi, Kun, Papu, De Paul here giggling at stupid comments and jokes. Seeing them there is no different than when I hang out with my idiot friends. Iโ€™m probably going to watch it a bunch, especially love seeing popa Messi trying to hold back a bit but he canโ€™t. Hilarious stuff! ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • It made me laugh and also got emotional at the end. It shows how united they are together. Also how amazing person Messi is. He didn’t have to mention Gio but he still said they misses him also I miss him too at our left side โ˜น

      • I’m so happy Kun did this. I have never seen this side of our boys. I love when Rodri teleported in from bottom of screen. Papu is such a skateboard grunge type of guy. I bet you he skateboards or something like that in the off season.
