Emiliano Martinez visited Bangladesh on his short trip to Asia before his holidays and the local Argentina fan base went crazy. Reportedly, Dibu’s next stop will be Calcutta, India, where he is supposed to arrive this Monday.
Among those who greeted the Argentinian goalkeeper was local cricket idol Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who currently serves as a Member of Parliament. Mashrafe thanked Martinez by posting the following on Facebook:
“Short time meet, but a great feeling. The goalkeeper of the World Cup winning team is in front of our eyes! He doesn’t know how many years of waiting of millions of people like me ended when Argentina won the World Cup!”
As for the Best goalkeeper in the world, Dibu also showed how very thankful he is to the Bangladesh people and posted the following on his Instagram:
“The people here, with their love, care, and unrivaled hospitality, have truly melted my heart. I eagerly anticipate my return to this beautiful country in the near future. So, until my next visit, I bid you farewell, leaving a piece of my heart here. I am forever charmed by Bangladesh.”
The millennials in South Asia grew up listening to tales of Great Diego Maradona as he has just won the world cup and made it to the final in 1990. This is why Argentina has a huge fan base in South Asia as those kids who grew up listening to Diego’s legend are adults now.
