Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay will be hosting the opening matches of the 2030 World Cup!
CONMEBOL president Alejandro Domínguez has confirmed that the opening games of the 2030 World Cup will be played in South America! The CONMEBOL president released a tweet on Wednesday morning stating that the World Cup will be returning to where it all started.
The first ever World Cup was held in South America and 100 years later, it will return to South America. CONMEBOL had previously launched a bid to host the tournament, including Chile but the announcement does not include Chile and only Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.
We aimed high and dreamed big. The 2030 Centenario World Cup starts where it all began.

Is that new Argentina jersey Messi is wearing in this pic? I don’t recall seeing this jersey before.
Call me spoiled but I’m a bit disappointed it isn’t exclusively in Argentina and Uruguay, even when it was thought to be only in South América I was a bit annoyed they had to then sneak Chile in and Paraguay as well which is staying. I liked the idea of the 100 year tradition. But I guess money is the most important thing anyway. Many of our stadiums in Argentina leave a lot to be desired. A full blown world cup may also be too much for Argentina to handle if they don’t improve economically significantly.
