Lionel Messi won’t start but will play, Lautaro Martínez and Julián Álvarez in XI for Argentina

Lionel Messi will not start for Argentina against Paraguay but Lautaro Martínez and Julián Álvarez will both be in the starting eleven for Argentina.

Messi will not start but will get some minutes. According to Gastón Edul, the Best player in the world will not start but will play 40 minutes or the entire second half.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni will also start both Lautaro Martínez and Julián Álvarez with Nicolás González. Here is the rumored starting eleven:

Emiliano Martínez; Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Nicolás Otamendi, Tagliafico; Rodrigo De Paul, Enzo Fernández, Alexis Mac Allister, Nicolás González; Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez

  1. Those worried about creativity, please go back watch the first half of Arg vs Jamaica friendly last year, to get an idea. They combined for a goal. And Julian was not even at the level he is now. Maybe when you watch the minutes they played together, it might calm your nerves.

  2. This starting XIlooks less creative XI.Idea to play juluan and lautaro in this match not creates threat i think. It is better to add OCCAMPOS on right side gives speedy play and little panic in paraguyn defence.
    When a crucial time this squad lacks very gud creativ plyrs in mid. WE Cant depend messi always
    .MESSI covered this problm many times.without him it shows zero advntg in mid.

Paraguay will park the bus and defend with 11 men, so without our most creative attackers Messi, Di Maria and Dybala it could be super hard to unlock them, imo Nico and Julian are rather transition players, who work with more spaces thanks to their speeds and off the ball movements, but not in super tight spaces.

    • Paraguay know how to play against us lately, but now seems weaker than earlier and we are way stronger than before, BUT:

      WCQ 22 ARG PAR 1:1 and PAR ARG 0:0
      Copa 21 ARG PAR 1:0
      Copa 19 ARG PAR 1:1
      WCQ 18 ARG PAR 0:1 and PAR ARG 0:0
      Copa 16 ARG PAR 2:2 and ARG PAR semi final 6:1 our last good match against them, WCQ 14 was the last series with ARG domination (3:1 home and 5:2 away).

      So my prediction is 2:0 with 70+% possession, but with very few chances, with an early goal it could be more. I dont see Paraguay scoring.

  4. We should try Lautaro + Julian because they are too good. Long time ago, our coach also had to figure out a way to start both Messi and Di Maria (they were both right winger at that time).

  6. If not today, this was bound to happen someday in near future. We cannot go on depending on Messi. So a starting XI without Messi is a boon in disguise, how sad it might sound for his fans. The team should develop the habit of winning without him. But I firmly believe, eventually we need him for Copa 24 and World Cup 26. I don’t see how we can win either without the creative genius of him and Di Maria.

  8. Who is the GOAT is questionable, but who is the GOAT sub player wo a doubt is Messi. In 2975 minutes he scored 54!!! goals. One goal per 55 minutes, for tired defenders a real nightmare.
