Matías Soulé and Valentín Castellanos have reportedly both been pre-selected for the Argentina national team.

Soulé and Castellanos could be included in the Argentina national team for the November World Cup qualifying matches. According to TyC Sports, the two players have been reserved by Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni for the November matches.

Per the report, the Argentina national team coaching staff have began calling and have already reserved a few players. This would not mean that they are called up to the national team as the final list is expected in the upcoming week.

Valentín Castellanos has one goal and two assists in nine Serie A matches with Lazio. The 25 year old striker joined Lazio from New York City FC.

As for Soulé, the Italian national team is looking to call him up. He has five goals and one assist in nine Serie A matches with Frosinone.

The Argentina national team play two World Cup qualifying matches. The first against Uruguay on November 16 and the second on November 21 against Brazil.

  2. Exactly. He won’t get any minutes, we have the spider and the bull. And even if the bull isn’t replicating his inter Milan prowess… You still have to start the bull over 90% of the worlds starting strikers let alone Soule who is still developing.

  3. we all know it was not a matter of time. I have a feeling that Valentin Castellanos will have an instant impact considering Lautaro’ s poor form in replicating his goal scoring form at NT.

    Soule is long term solution along with Speedy Gonzalez and Garancho. Romero should explore similar option (to middle clubs). His performance at the last youth tournament was good enough to bench Soule. right? May be it was due to Mascherano’s inconsistent tactics and lack of coherent team but Romero was outstanding.

    • No chance for Castellanos to get minutes with healthy Julian/Lautaro/Dybala, just an emergency option. Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord is a huge loss (argentine parents but raised in Mexico and choosed them) he will be Julian/Lautaro level striker with time imo, the others not. (Simeone, Castellanos, (Retegui), Beltran, Veliz etc.).

      • alverez,lautaro are different to dybala. castellanos is different to all of above. IMO castellanos may have chance when lautaro isnt in form but mostly debut in friendly . Castellanos may fight for the 3rd striker with simeone,beltran.Veliz is a dark horse

        Soule can easily replace ocampos or possibly compete with dybala, angel correa.

        another winger who has great talent is Zeballos (injuried recently again), injury may ruin his career though

      • Agree that he is no where in thier level. Be it in an emergency or Girud mode, some one need to lift the heavy burden of Messi interms of goal scoring. He is aging and none of the high caliber strikers are taking thier chances. wish am wrong.
