Lionel Messi had one goal and five assists for Inter Miami in their 6-2 win vs. New York RB and broke records.

Messi made MLS history with his five assists for Inter Miami and stole the show. It was New York RB who scored and took a 1-0 lead in the match but it was Lionel Messi who took over the match. Messi assisted Matias Rojas for the first goal which drew Inter Miami level.

The 36 year old gave Inter Miami the 2-1 lead when the ball fell to him inside the penalty area and his effort found the back of the goal for Inter Miami’s second goal of the match. Inter Miami’s third goal was arguably Messi’s best assist of the night.

He would play a pass in which would cut through New York’s back line and it fell to Rojas once more and he would score his second goal of the match. His next three were for Luis Suarez, the first a low cross, the second was a play between the two players and the third was an outside of the foot pass.

The Argentine became the first player in MLS history to have five assists in one match and is the first player in the MLS this season to reach 10 goals. His one goal and six assists is also a personal record for most goal contributions in one match.

Messi also becomes the first player with over 1200 career goal contributions.

  1. CONGRATULATIONS to the GOAT for surpassing 1200 Goal Contributions. He is now at 1205 g/a in 1058 games at a rate of 1 contribution every 72 minutes. He passed it with 6 goal contributions in one game last night. Its insane.

  2. Enjoy reading this those who was consistently complaining about julian alvarez👇

“The Argentinian marked the occasion with his 35th goal for Pep Guardiola‘s side to seal a vital three points.

Alvarez has been a revelation since arriving at the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2022, playing a pivotal role in our Big Five success over the last two campaigns.

Our No.19 also added international success at the World Cup with Argentina during his first term in Manchester.

This season he has been our most used player, making 51 appearances across all competitions as we chase yet more silverware.

Over both seasons he has hit the net 19 times in the Premier League, eight times in the Champions League, scored four goals in the FA Cup, two at the FIFA Club World Cup and one in each of the Community Shield and Carabao Cup.

In total, he has played a whopping 5,960 minutes, laid on 17 assists and created 128 chances on top of his 35 goals.

The 24-year-old is currently averaging a goal or an assist every 115 minutes in a City shirt.

Congratulations to Julian on reaching this
    significant landmark!”

    • Julian had a stellar first quater which is why his stats looks good. However if you look at the the second half of the season he couldn’t perform as per his and City standards. Other than a penalty goal against Everton in November, Alvarez was going through a goal drought up until last week ( end of April) against Brighton in EPL and add to that Haaland missed many matches due to injuries during that time frame. Foden capitalized on the absence of Haaland while Alvarez kept passing the ball around which is why he lost his starting spot and hardly featured in Champions league for City after impressing in first couple of matches. Yes, the stats you have shared could be great for some midtable team player but for a world cup winner, best striker of the world cup and Argentine ace, it is a extremely long agonizing poor run of form, which is why his minutes were gradually cut down and given to Doku and Grealish since Foden became untouchable in City! He will still remain a rotation utility player next season and will play as a backup striker when Haaland is fit.

        • I personally welcome constructive criticism but not obsession though I think you & sulav were over doing why you not saying same thing enzo Fernandez who has been poor lately even though he was carrying injury it’s too early to say but Chelsea are doing well without him .

          • It’s true that enzo Fernandez is underperforming but we must keep in mind that Chelsea is in transition period and we all were against enzo Fernandez signing for Chelsea.
