Nicolás González scores for Fiorentina in 3-2 win vs. Cagliari

Nicolás González scored for Fiorentina in their 3-2 away win vs. Cagliari on matchday 38 of the Serie A. With this result, La Viola secured a spot in next year’s Conference League.

Nicolás González, Lucas Martínez Quarta and Lucas Beltrán didn’t start the match, but they entered the pitch in the second half since Fiorentina will play the Conference League final vs. Olympiacos next Wednesday.

With Cagliari winning 2-1 in the 89th minute, Nicolás González received the ball, only inches away from the goal, coming from a free kick, and kicked it to the back of the net to draw Fiorentina level at 2-2.

In injury time, Lucas Beltrán received a tackle from Yerry Mina inside the box, and the referee awarded La Viola a penalty kick, after taking a look at the play at the VAR. Fiorentina scored the penalty to make it 3-2 in the last minute.

González and Lucas Martínez Quarta have both been included in the provisional Argentina national team for the Copa America.
