Lionel Scaloni comments on Argentina’s win vs. Brazil

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni commented on Argentina’s 4-1 win against Brazil.

Lionel Scaloni commented on his team’s massive win against Brazil in the World Cup qualifiers. Speaking to the media after the match, here is what he had to say:

“It’s a team victory, because we played as a team and that’s why we minimized Brazil. It is the only way to beat these players. I think we played great matches and the important thing is to know how to interpret each one.

“There will be games in which we will suffer and others in which we will not. We have to show that we are capable of playing in different circumstances.

“It’s hard to put pressure on such a technical team. I think the quick goal helped them open up a little more. We were able to occupy the spaces better, especially with this type of players, who are all adapting very well.

“There are still things to do and many things can happen. We are going call up by call up, enjoying being there.

“I want people to enjoy this moment. We don’t know how long it will last, but at some point, it will take a turn.

“Hopefully, it lasts a long time, but in the meantime, let’s enjoy how these guys play. We will keep trying.”

Scaloni also spoke about the comments Raphinha made before the match:

“I forgive Raphinha because I know he didn’t do it on purpose, he’s defending his country. I’m completely sure he didn’t mean to hurt anyone.

“There’s no need for statements for the game to be played this way. We didn’t play like this because of that.”

  1. This win has made me so happy. It was a joy to watch the game. Even Romero’s mistake brought a little tension but that was soon put to rest.
I also enjoy how the Argentina fans aren’t jumping the gun to assume we will win the next world cup. Having had so many years of losses, it makes us all cautious and realistic about the odds. The fact is there are many great teams out there that can win the WC, but Argentina is one of those teams. If the WC were held today, we might be the most in-form team.
Who knows what will happen next year, but I am loving how well we are playing and how smart our coach is. I love that the players have a fire and want to troll the other teams and both Scaloni and Messi keep them in check. It’s a really great dynamic that works really well.
I’m very excited for the world cup. I have high hopes!

  2. You know, normally I try to be eloquent when I write a post here on Mundo but not today. No, today I’m just gonna have to say god dayam that was some serious ass-whooping!!!! I mean honestly it was men against boys, a total clinic and a clear cautionary tale about not counting your chickens before they hatch or more accurately not talking smack BEFORE a match.
Scaloni’s 4-1-3-2 was as stroke of genius, basically overloading the field with 2way midfielders against a Brazilian team that treats central midfielders as a luxury rather than a necessity and the result is total midfield domination and a high time ass-whooping.
Apart from Cuti’s almost inexplicable brain fart this was a perfect match where almost everyone performed to their best. Who was the MOM? Was it Julian and his constant running and presence? Was it Enzo with his goal/assist? Was it Mac or DePaul or Almada or Tagliafico? Honestly point a finger at almost any Argentino on that field and you could’ve justified giving them the MOM award.
Result and performance aside Seeing Almada and Simeone (what a Golazo! The kid ain’t just ‘garra’, he got skills) today gives me huge hope for the future, add Paz, Perrone, Castro and hopefully the likes of Soule, Varela, Barranechea, Garnacho and maybe, just MAYBE double-dipping the world cup isn’t out of the question.

  3. Scaloni is class, always respectful and well-spoken. Dibu is going to be Dibu and him bouncing the ball on his knees to which Scaloni was quick to tell him to stop it.

Already advanced, 31 points, beating the two archnemesis back to back, still World #1 nation without a quarter of the usual squad….enough said.

  4. Giuliano Simeone is miles ahead of Garnacho in every aspect of the game.

Enzo Fernandez is being played too deep for Chelsea and his sublime positioning is just being wasted there. He is far more useful when playing in an attacking role and current Chelsea manager has absolutely failed to utilize his strengths!

MacAllister is a complete midfielder, can score, assist and run the game.

Depaul is finally showing his national team form for his club and he is the next in line to be our captain.

Julian Alvarez is our best player and top 3 players in the world right now.

Almada is a gem! Lyon needs to invest more in him. He will generate a huge profit for them.

Nico Paz is out best CAM! He needs atleast one more season under Fabregas to develop even further!

2026 World cup is Argentina’s to lose! We are the best contender to win the next world cup along with Spain & France. We have a cohesive unit with next level chemistry that can defeat all those teams whose players play for so called best clubs in the world.

  5. Beautiful game , beautiful result. Tbh I expected way more from Brazil(win for Argentina but with a good attacking game from the Brazilians) due to their attackers current form.
Scaloni is a genuis. This game just proves that you don’t need to be a fantastic/legendary footballer to turn into a great coach. From the start till the end we can all see that he outsmarted his rival coach in terms of his tactics. Just so brilliant.
