Leandro Paredes spoke about the World Cup with the Argentina national team.
Paredes was part of the Argentina national team that won the 2022 World Cup and is part of the team for this World Cup. Speaking in an interview with Pollo Alvarez, here is what he had to say:
“This World Cup finds me much greater, much more mature and surely, that makes me much calmer. We will try to compete once more the same way that we did at the last World Cup.
“We will try to be at the height of what our country deserves, this shirt. The last World Cup, there were also national teams that came better than us, in terms of play, in terms of physical levels and we showed that we always compete.
“It doesn’t bother me at all how the other national teams are doing. Recently, we played Brazil at home with Vinicius, Raphinha and Rodrygo and I believe we had one of our best matches of this cycle. The opponent never bothers us, we think about ourselves.
“There are many favorites. There are very good national teams, national teams that arrive very well. I don’t take myself out of that but our goal is to compete.”

I hope they will score a lot of goals againts Iceland, I remeber that frustraiting 1-1 draw back in 2018..
I was wondering what people here think of the current Argentina Squad for world cup. No Acuna, no Echeverri, no Mastantuono, no Dybala, no Garnacho. Is this team really OK – especially keeping in mind that there is no Angel Di Maria and that Messi is getting old and might not be able to play the whole game? Among newcomers, I am happy with the inclusion of Nico Paz, but I don’t know to what extent he alone can fill up the gap.
Never mind Bro…i think you are a seasonal fan. Or obviously it is ok….
We are good to go
We are absolutely good to go …. am very happy there is no Mustantuno and Garnacho …. they are not at all performing. Dybala is good but injury prone n just got fit.
Thanks for all the replies. Good to see that so many believe in this team. Gives me some confidence too.
It is surprising that you call for these players.
Acuna is injured and no longer playing at the top of his game. Too slow to complete at the highest level.
Echeverri was a flop in England, France and now Spain too. He was a great promise in our youth squad, but failed to materialize. Lacks physical strength and stamina. Should not be near NT.
Mastantuono is a complete failure in Madrid. Lacks basic skills and has been overrated ever since he scored a free kick for River against Boca. He is already on the transfer list and will move out of Madrid this summer. Not NT material.
Dybala always was a personal favorite because of his technique, but the guy cannot stay fit for long. Very injury prone.
Garnacho is inconsistent and according to rumors not an asset for the dressing room.
At least get your facts straight. Claudio Echeverri has never played in France. After leaving River Plate, he joined Manchester City, made his debut in the FA Cup Final, and later spent time on loan at Bayer Leverkusen in Germany before moving to Girona in Spain.
1 games for Man City, hardly qualifies as a flop in England.
@ LordDante
I stand corrected. It was indeed Germany, not France. Sorry for the mistake.
Maybe flop is too harsh a word for Echeverri, although he failed to make an impact at 3 different teams.
At this moment in time, he is not NT material.
