Marcos Senesi has spoken about being called up to the Argentina national team for the World Cup.
Senesi is replacing the injured Leonardo Balerdi for the World Cup after initially being left out of the Argentina national team. Speaking to ESPN Argentina, here is what Senesi had to say about being called-up:
“Very happy. First, I would to give a big hug to flaco, it’s a difficult situation for him. A big hug.
“It’s a nice opportunity and I hope to enjoy it to the most. I had been training up to the expectations. I didn’t have contact with anyone up until the last moment.
“One always has hope. I had it until the last moment. I knew it could be a possibility. I was hoping it until the last moment and it happened.
“It’s the dream of any kid when you start playing with the ball in your neighborhood. I have always said that I never see myself singing another anthem that wasn’t the Argentine.
“The first call I made were to my parents.”
